Sophomore year Mikael Hopkins was starting Center for this program the last time we won a BE regular season championship. Roster construction in some ways is more important than individuals.. Hollings had to start we had no other options them. Moses ayegba was our back up for Christ sakes...lol hopefully Ewing will land another big like Baker or Wahab so Wilson won't have to start. Idk... If we land Wilson, hopefully he becomes a beast. We'll see.. It's interesting you bring up Moses because they don't win that title without him. The @syracuse game was pretty much him and Otto putting us on their backs. Moses only scored 1pt that game but it was his 10rbds, 2blks, and overall presence defensively that made the difference imo. We get focused on one player, but how guys fit in a team concept can be more important in many ways. Obviously, you have to have talent, but how those pieces compliment each other matters a lot...

Does Igohoefe affect our interest here?

I had my doubts he would actually make his visit unless it was decided he would Redshirt. I'd be shocked if he makes the visit now...

I'd still take Wilson but he has to redshirt. Obviously this changes if Baker and Wahab still want to come as well.

You don’t take two projects. This probably isn’t happening

You don’t take two projects. This probably isn’t happening I don't see Timmy as a true project. He's produced in the international game. Definitely not a year 1 starter but wouldn't need to be anyway with Yurt. Wilson is a project, Timmy is a prospect. With those measurables and that he's been playing for the NBA academy, chances are he's already on NBA radars.

I am a little surprised. I would have thought they might have backed away from Wilson after getting the commitment from our newest African star. Not sure there is a place for two "developmental" big men on the team next year. Maybe they don't consider Igohoefe to be a project. Guess we will see.

Also remember that Wilson has said he would be open to redshirting. Iggy could be farther along in his development but still somewhat of a project, could still be a serviceable backup year one without redshirting.

Tim I. is probably a long ways from qualifying right now plus if he has a big development spurt over the next year he could get enticed by pro money in Europe.. Wilson is a sure thing eligibility wise, I like the play by the staff to stay involved..

First part of this statement regarding Tim's eligibility is purely speculation. I do agree he could be enticed with professional opportunities in different parts of the world at any point...

Doubt Wilson visit this weekend because of Florence. Gives the staff more time to evaluate all options before getting him officially on campus...

No objection at all to continuing to pursue Wilson. Recall that 2 of the scholarships coming open at the end of the year are from big guys (Govan and Trey), so bringing in 2 bigs next year won't really cause significant roster imbalance. In fact I think most people have thought we'd take 2 bigs throughout the process, it's just that many had talked themselves into "a stud and a project" with the stud being someone like Stewart or Cockburn, or now Baker. Baker is still a possibility for sure, but if that doesn't pan out, taking a second big guy with a high ceiling still seems fairly logical to me. It just increases the probability that one of them hits and is ready to take over the position post-Yurtseven. Especially if Wilson is willing to redshirt as speculated which helps with class balance a bit.
I am still a believer in Wilson and think that with the right coaching he could be a heck of a player. The scholarships will be there, so I think if we like him let's take him.

To me, Wahab is the most skilled now of the three bigs (Wilson, Tim)...is a top 100 guy who could reasonably be most ready to start as a Soph and is local (don't know if that's important to him)...don't know if Baker is a realistic option (need to at least see an OV scheduled) but he would be clearly first choice at C...
