Interesting. If he comes to Gtown hopefully this doesn't take us out of the running for Wahab. Wilson won't be ready to play in yr 1. Yep. I don't see Wilson making much of a contribution in year 1. Almost certainly would not be able to fill all of the backup minutes at the 5 behind Yurt. We'd need someone else. I don't think a Wilson commitment would affect Wahab. He'd have 10+ minutes available to him as a FR, and be the projected starter going into his SO year. I'm all for getting both of them (or Wilson + some other ready-to-play C) this year. Bigs always take time to develop and odds seem to be high that we'll only get Yurt for a year on the court. Wilson's a big ball of potential. If he's open to red-shirting or spending a few years maturing and learning -- which he seems to be -- that'd put us, and him, in a good situation. I've seen YURT PLAY IN PERSON AND i DON'T THINK 1 YEAR IS GOING TO DO IT FOR HIM - HE'S 2 YEARS AWAY IMHO.

Expecting Wilson to commit on his official visit, but unfortunately of all of the guys we’re on I’m the least excited about him. He’s got some potential but i think he’s at least 2-3 years away from being ready. Maybe if we could convince him to do a prep year I’d be down for that. Oh well, will have to trust the staff on this one.

I would say redshirt him. Have him around the team, be in the locker room, play against yurtseven everyday in practice, learn from sitting on the bench during games, get bigger in the college weightroom...

Kid is really athletic, but very raw. Reminds me of Macklin a little bit.

I think Macklin was a bad fit with bad habits, not raw.

I would be thrilled to get Wilson, as would be the case with any very athletic player with big upside.

I would be thrilled to get Wilson, as would be the case with any very athletic player with big upside. You have to believe that the staff either feels he can contribute something as a freshman, (even if just as a back up) or they have a verbal agreement that he is willing to red-shirt next year. Otherwise you would think he would not be a priority recruit for the program, and they would be waiting until they had some other pieces of the 2019 class in place first.

Defense is important also.. Seems like that needs to be pointed out from time to time...

The guy was a proven commodity in the ACC last season including strong play against Duke's two frontcourt lottery picks. Yurtseven should be more than ready by next season.

Defense is important also.. Seems like that needs to be pointed out from time to time... ^this^ People are forgetting that we have guards now that can make life easy for Wilson. We don't need him to be ready to score downlow off post moves. We need him to be a deterrent in the paint defensively, set solid picks and roll to the rim, and be strong enough to not be pushed under the rim. We won't need a Govan replacement, we need a Hop replacement....

I think he is ours to lose. Not visiting Clemson anymore.

I know earlier in this thread it mentions he would be open to redshirting and I hope that remains the case.
I know it's unfair to judge a kid by his highlight tapes but I didnt see a single jump shot or post move. Certainly his athleticism and defense are intriguing and he should have easier buckets w/akinjo but he looks like he is severely behind offensively.

That's only if we get another big like a Baker or Wahab. And Wilson is the 3rd center on the depth chart.

People say Wilson is 2 years away... My math is not the greatest, but Senior year in HS, and one year behind Yurt ='s....
Nothing prevents you from adding a more offensive minded center during that time.

Still a back as a sophomore not a starter. Lol Sophomore year Mikael Hopkins was starting Center for this program the last time we won a BE regular season championship. Roster construction in some ways is more important than individuals..

Still a back as a sophomore not a starter. Lol That presumed that he is not redshirted, which he has specifically said he is open to.

Roster construction in some ways is more important than individuals.. Hopkins had to start we had no other options them. Moses ayegba was our back up for Christ sakes...lol hopefully Ewing will land another big like Baker or Wahab so Wilson won't have to start.
