Of the non-conference games yet to be scheduled, I feel strongly that we should have at least 2 of them prior to the Illinois game on 11/13. The fighting illini have a new coach & two of their cupcake games before 11/13. It will be game number 3 for them when they face us. We don't wanna go into hostile territory having it be our first game.

That's a very good point. All the more reason why there should be transparency. I have no problem with the NCAA creating a proprietary formula and trademarking it, etc., but this isn't a trade secret like the formula for Coca-Cola, nor should it be treated as such. Why not? If the NCAA wants a proprietary secret sauce algorithms , who are younto stop them? Of course, I'm not going to stop them. It's my opinion. I am also not running the NCAA and don't have the NCAA's business interests in mind. I am sure the intent is to have reveal shows, etc. to try to make money. Hey, maybe that will work for them, and if so, good for them. For the record, I don't think the NCAA has any nefarious motives or intent to use it to manipulate the selection. As I said, they've already made questionable decisions using publicly available metrics, so there's no reason to think it'll be different. Given that RPI will likely still exist to some extent, KenPom provides similar metrics, etc., it's really not that big a deal. It just seems like the type of thing the NCAA is doing that will just inevitably cause controversy at some point. But that's the NCAA, so it's to be expected. |

Not sure John Rothstein's sources are credible on this. Since the reformation, the BIG EAST has shown it likes to start it's conference play with all 10 teams in action in a marathon watching type format on FS1. If the 29th is the starting date of conference play, then realistically only 4 teams for sure will be in action on the 29th and no more then 6 total if DePaul and Georgetown who haven't announced their OOC yet, are open that weekend. Creighton, Marquette, and Butler all play OOC between the 27-29 with Butler at Florida in a major showdown on Saturday the 29th. I doubt any team will play an OOC game and then their first conference game a couple days later. Unless the conference is going against their own history and starting a staggered conference play schedule, the 29th of December isn't a realistic conference starting date. More realistic date is the January 1st. |

There were 3 games on the 27th and 2 games on the 28th to kick off the season. |

Liberty was #167 in RPI (#184 in KenPom) last season, finishing 14-4 in the Big South. Another gradual improvement to the schedule, as they were on par with Richmond last season... Liberty would have been the 3 toughest game on last year's OOC (according to KenPom). This year, they project as 5th toughest at best. |

Need one or two games before Illinois... Based on the NSO pep rally the other week, it sounds like the first game will be 11/6. So there should be 1-2 games before Illinois. |
