I’m not saying that Ewing followed glidehoyas thoughts. I’m just saying that we didn’t have a real point guard for years, and that many people on this board didn’t think we needed one in our offense. If you want to say that I’m not giving proper credit to the head coach of this team, you’d be mistaken. But this comment thread has gone off the rails.

I was at the game and oh my was akinjo putting on a show. He played as good of D on Howard as you could have asked, he controlled the tempo, had some great passes, played under control and really hit some big big shots. Love this kid and is potential. Phenomenal game

Donny Marshall is a moron.
James is a stud. He will make mistakes. Several big ones today re clock management. But for any fan that does not think we have our PG is bananas. I wish he were 2 inches taller but so be it. Smitty was the PG when I enrolled and this guy is a stud.

Incredible performance by Akinjo today. He truly elevated his team. Man, that was big time!

He has a Million dollar move and a five cent finish.
But once that changes look out cause we won’t lose another game.

Awesome game from James - what about his defensive effort...right from opening tip, really set the tone.

What Akinjo did yesterday is what he did all the time in high school. He imposed his will on both ends of the court, and dragged his team to a win. He has some physical limitations, but mentally/emotionally he is a special player. It is going to be a lot of fun to watch his continued growth as a player, and to see where he leads this team.

Howard slapped the court on James midway through the second half. That is a very big no-no. Like chumming the waters for our frosh shark.

Agree, and re: what seems like his sometimes ill-advised drives that end in blocks ... of course much of that is height (which barring a late growth spurt he can’t do anything about) but if he puts another 10 lbs on his frame over the next year it could really help him body and create space on defenders at the cup

Has he attempted a reverse lay-up this year? I think he may need to spend the summer perfecting the art of the reverse.

Has he attempted a reverse lay-up this year? I think he may need to spend the summer perfecting the art of the reverse. Pull-ups, runners, and floaters all create separation and helps avoid the trees down low. See tape on Howard, Powell, Brunson, etc.

Howard doesn't even play adequate D.....there is no coincidence that Georgetown score 71pts at home against Quette and 86pts at Quette.....the only difference in the 2 is Howard only played 1min in the 1st game.....

That steal and breakaway layup attempt was like watching a slow-motion car crash.
Crazy he can play so well on both ends and have one fairly unique deficiency in his game.

How come no has mentioned that beautiful defensive move he made, stripping Howard? of the ball? I liked how Howard? did the 'loser's limp thing' and fell to the floor as if he had been fouled.

Probably because it was early in the game. It was a great play that was in part nullified because of the block.

One of James’ many impressive statistics this year is that he shot 40.3% 3PFG in conference this year, good for 7th best. Pretty darn impressive.
