Wow. I was able to watch the first half and was blown away by how well we were playing. While away from home I kept checking scores and couldn’t believe we were still in the game. Finally I check to see the final score and am crushed to see we lost in overtime. So I go to Hoyatalk expecting folks to be sad that we lost but upbeat about how well we played. To be impressed about how this team seems to be coming together and actually growing as we watch. Instead I hear all this bitching about PEs end game coaching, bad guard play, and whether we will keep losing close games. C’mon people, we committed 2 turnovers in the first half, played a Xavier team that owned us the past two years and is ranked 6th in the country to basically a draw. And we did this with a team that stunk last year, lost its two leading scorers, and has no blue chip recruits. I don’t know about you but for the first time in over a year I’m excited about Hoya basketball again. Bring on Provy, Seton Hall etc. See you at the Garden next month!

We're going to look back on this year in a decade and shake our heads at the talent level we rolled out there night after night. I dont agree with you on alot but THIS, we agree on.

Thats coaching. They are able to isolate the worst player on the floor defensively and take him to the rim. Too easy How did Mack allow this inferior, unranked, turnover prone Hoya team to come so close to victory against his top ten Xavier squad on his own homecourt? Oh, THAT must be coaching too.

How could people call for Ewing's job after going to OT against the #6 team in the country on the road? Or even in general? This is his first year and he's doing a great job of recruiting and getting this program back to where we should be at. He has players putting all of their effort into the team compared to JT3 having multiple people question his teams' effort. He has a system and developed players well to this point. Let him coach for some time before even thinking about this.

Yes, Ewing's legacy is going to be defined by how he does in year one, and we've already ranged him as not as good as JTIII. This makes sense. Or... a team without solid guards is going to have trouble keeping leads even if it succeeds in getting them, so we'll have to wait to see how Ewing recruits and coaches in subsequent years before drawing major conclusions. This is not what I said. Ewing will get at least 3 years, but if the late games melt downs are still happening in year 3, what are you going to think of him as a coach? You are waaaaayyy too far ahead!! Too much in your head. This is early in the beginning. We're losing, but the play, effort, and style of play is better. I am encouraged.

Yeah we're pre-warming a hot seat for a guy coaching a team showing vast improvement that was a 9th place team losing its top two scorers coming into the year. Let's slow down a bit. By the way, if Pat puts two guys on the all-freshman team that he picked up after getting the job in April, that will be an under-appreciated feat.

We're going to look back on this year in a decade and shake our heads at the talent level we rolled out there night after night. I dont agree with you on alot but THIS, we agree on. The minutes we have to give Mulmore and Dickerson are just killers. They both played far better than usual tonight - until Mulmore came into the game in OT and started shoving every player who got near him! Dickerson actually did some nice stuff tonight, but he was still good for one terrible fast break pass thrown off the backboard. We have had some rough guard play at times over the years, but we have never been forced to play two guys this bad this many minutes. I don't think I'll ever trust a grad transfer/JC point guard again, these two guys have left a lasting impression. Ewing has been shifting more minutes to Mosely/Blair - but he probably should push even further and get another 10 minutes or so a game out of Blair/Mosely at the expense of Mulmore/Dickerson. Mulmore/Dickerson gave us 40 minutes and THREE points tonight. They did have a good 8/2 TO/Asst ratio, but were just 1-5 shooting. And this was one of their best combined games of the year. It's great that they kept the turnovers down, but it is tough to get just 3 points out of one of your 5 lineup slots, especially in a fairly high scoring game.

This post-mortem on Patrick Ewing's coaching career, when he has been coaching with primarily another coach's recruits, is insane. Let's see what the Hoya roster looks like in seasons three and four of his tenure before beginning any evaluation of his coaching acumen and ability.

Yelling at tv for Juggy to swing it and he shoots and drains a tight 3. Pickett and Derrickson were open

Team plays hard but dumb. Watching us lose game after game like this the past few years, I always think back to Coach Bob Knight's quote about basketball intelligence. He was once asked if he'd prefer an intelligent team or a team of great athletes. He responded saying "mental is to physical as 4 is to 1."

I want to take the time to say that I love watching this team. I’ve never been this excited to watch a losing (in conference at least) sports team in my life. Second straight game that we’re giving a great team a big test in their house. I love the direction we’re heading in with Pat. If Derrickson and Govan stay for next year like they should, and we maybe land another quality guard...we could have something. So true. We have McClung.

Assuming MD and Govan return, I like the future. Where are we worried about them going? Europe? L.J. Peak proved last year that players will leave Georgetown early even though they have virtually no chance of getting drafted or playing in the NBA.

Dickerson has had his best game of the year. Neither Blair nor Mosley can handle the ball there. Do not believe that Dickerson was freelancing. Except with .26 to go in OT

The play before Govan fouled out, he had Bluiett on a switch down low and we don't get the ball to him. It has to be frustrating for him. Dont say i didnt tell ya. Then they write an article blaming jessie about his play smh

It comes down to decision making at the end of games. As a coach what do you tell your team with .26 to go in overtime. Get to the basket as quickly as you can. If youncan dish it fine. If the big hasn't got a chance to sink it he should then kick it out to a shooter. This didn't happen. Dickerson took his time as the clock was winding down and had no good decision to make. What did Ewing say in the huddle???
