I am praying for this young man’s success. Again, I have to do a little boasting here. Bear with me, please. But I saw it in him when I started this thread maybe four years ago under the heading, “Jomorko Picket: A Diamond in the Rough.” Over the years Pickett came in for a lot of flack. It is interesting—and good—to see that all of those detractors and nay sayers have melted away. Go Jomorko! I criticized Pickett's play over the years, but he was a dedicated member of the team, stuck through tough times, and by all accounts, a great representative of the university. I truly hope he has success at the next level, wherever that may take him, be it domestic or abroad. What he said in one of the articles is correct, and does help his prospects - players of his size/body type are definitely desirable in today's game, so he has that going for him.

Much respect! We have all at times been disappointed in his play. He just reeked of so much potential. Just seemed to lose confidence at times.

I won't be surprised if he ends up on the end of someone's roster because of his defense. He is a very good individual defender, and his position versatility should get him some looks.

I am rooting for him. He caught hell on this board many times. Many expected so much of him. He gave his all. Sometimes it wasn't good enough. But he kept developing his game working on the little things, the details that make a difference, to me, like footwork, follow-through on his jumper, and taking the ball off the dribble to the basket. His defense continued to improve. I am glad so many teams are interested and hope he lands somewhere that will nurture his abilities, and has a good player development process. I think coach Ewing has really helped him, and continues to help him. I want to see him succeed big time

I am not sure if Jamorko will make it on an NBA roster or not, but it certainly seems like he is getting some consideration from teams. He has really worked hard for the last few years and found his strengths and it was great to see him have the success he did last year. There are so many talented players all trying to make a roster that in many cases it just comes down to being in the right place at the right time and then seizing that opportunity.
He has been a great representative of the university so I am hoping it works out for him and he achieves his goals.

To me it all depends on if he shot the ball well during his workouts. Morko has proven to be a plus rebounder and defender but for his potential he hasn't proven to consistently do anything on the offensive end. I literally wouldn't have been surprised by a 30-12-3 line or a 4-12-1 line. No matter the opponent.

I get the feeling that there's a team that already really wants him and has said they will draft him. The fact that Jamorko hasn't done any of the combines (Tampa, G League, NBA) indicates that the team wants him to stay off the radar.

NBA teams get to vote for the players they want to attend combine and G League Camp. I believe each team votes for something like 70 players and then those votes are tallied and make up the players that are invited. Maybe professor is referring to something else but for combine and G League a player cannot just show up as far as I am aware, it requires an invite.

Maybe professor is referring to something else but for combine and G League a player cannot just show up as far as I am aware, it requires an invite. Usually with things like the Portsmouth combine, I believe it's pretty easy to get an invite. If you're a borderline or unknown candidate then doing well at Portsmouth will get you into the NBA combine. (This was the Scottie Pippen route). IIRC, Austin Freeman turned down the Portsmouth invite thinking he would be an automatic bid to the NBA combine but was never invited to the NBA combine either so kind of shot himself in the foot. This year the Portsmouth combine was cancelled due to the Pandemic (which has state based restrictions). So the Tampa combine was created to fill one of the gaps. Javhon and Bile participated in that one but Jamorko did not. The G League Elite was another new combine and that one has a direct conduit to the NBA since the NBA owns the G League. "A select number of players from the NBA G League Elite Camp will be invited to participate in the 2021 NBA Draft Combine based on their performance"

That surprises me. He sure is a tall 6’8”. Maybe he is just exceptionally long.

I don't know if Pickett is just better at social media, or if he is truly getting more work outs than others, but it seems like he's gotten more work outs than a lot of our recent draft hopefuls like Jessie, Derickson, and Yurtseven.

It's, likely, both. That said, Morko has enviable measurables and really upped his defensive and boarding game in college. He deserves the looks, IMO.

I don't really expect he will hear his name called during the draft but hopefully he has a few opportunities after the draft to sign with a few NBA teams as a undrafted free agent. In his case that is probably the best thing for him, so that he can pick the team that offers him the best situation to earn playing time (probably in the G league) and develop into a NBA player. Hoping for the best for a classy young man!!!

Yeah Morko looks like what you would want a 3nD wing to look like if you made him in a lab. He's an elite defender and rebounder. So if he can give you "good Morko" shooting in a workout I can see a GM taking a flier late in 2nd.

Definitely if I needed to shut down an opponent without losing offensive output I would love to have Morko on my team
