Agree on trying get Sodom some meaningful time. He is very raw and his development will take time. No need have him sit (thinking Hayes and Mourning here) during games when the Hoyas should be able to win. Did not see enough of Walker and Derrickson together in the first game to see if that combination can work when Govan sits.

I was kind of hoping Sodom would be a RS candidate. Butler has done this a few times with freshman and in some cases with kids that were much more prepared to play immediately (Joey Brunk for example).

When are we going to get off of Walker and Derrickson ever playing some kind of combination at the 4 and 5 as an answer. Derrickson is a big 3 can't defend any kind of legit 4s or 5s. Walker is listed at 6 9 I'm npt sure he's even 6 7. Obviously unless Sodom can make a huge leap we will have major issues in the front court with foul trouble and any injuries. That's just the way is going to be.

Other than FS2, will any of the local channels (MASN, MASN2, CW, etc.) broadcast tonight's game?

Being a Govan injury away from having 0 centers on the roster made this impossible. I get the idea - but this year, Sodom has to learn on the bench. He'll figure in more games by the end of the season than Sunday's garbage time suggests.

Brunk was redshirted because his father was very I'll and unfortunately passed away last season. Butler initially had no plans to redshirt him. Creighton is a better example of redshirting BIGs not ready to play as freshman. Did it with Justin Patton and are now doing it with Jacob Epperson. Sodom would be a great candidate for a redshirt Freshman season but with no Trey Mourning there's no chance for that. Instead Ewing needs to speed up his development and find away to steal at least 3-5 minutes a half in these early games and hopefully build his confidence and comfort level now rather than tossing him into the fire in an emergency situation when conference play starts.

It's really hard to make conclusions based on these sort of games. UAB, which is ranked 118, beat Jacksonville by 29, whereas we only beat them by 16. If one were to apply the logic above, that would mean we don't stack up very well to the high majors. I definitely think that this team might be better than 10th in the Big East, but I would be (pleasantly) shocked if we were better than 8 or 9. Unfortunately, in these games winning by a small margin is often more telling (in a bad way), than winning by a big margin. Remember last year's team beat 343rd Coppin State by 52, whereas the same team only beat 338 Howard by 13. This. I'd rather play Govan no more than 30 mins and get pt for Sodom, than win by 20 vs 300+ RPI teams. Great point. Don't think it's a one-to-one correlation where if we beat them by 21 points were are an equal team to Marquette of course, just meant that if we do well against these guys its a positive indication, nothing more than that.

If Miles Wilson were still at The Mount the Hoyas would probably be in trouble tonight. I actually got in contact with this kid after his good performance in the NCAA play in games. Sure would've been nice for this kid to attend Gtown. www.ncaa.com/video/basketball-men/2017-03-14/3-pointer-miles-wilson Glad to see him at Miami U now.

I've checked all networks and sports apps, including Sling, and found only one possible solution. Spectrum TV's app carries FS2. If you know someone who has a subscription (and will let you use their password) you can watch it on your phone or iPad (if you have cell service on your iPad. If not, your Wifi provider might not let you access it if the provider doesn't carry FS2). In short, I know someone who has Spectrum so I will watch it on my phone. Unfortunately, I have an original version Apple Tv and it won't allow me to screen mirror it to my TV. Just have to squint. BTW, Saturday's game is on MASN.

Great example with Creighton. That said, I don't really think this is a good strategy in basketball. Yes it most likely means you will get an extra year out of a player, but in the case of Justin Patton, I bet Creighton wishes they had gotten more than one year of play out of him. Redshirting makes more sense in football when a guy is your 4th string LT and needs to put on 20 pounds before stepping on the field. In basketball, they can learn playing garbage minutes and even getting the occasional run in real situations based on foul trouble or injuries. Sodom is going to get better in practice and in the offseason, but playing 5-10 minutes here and there throughout the year will be huge for him. Also as others have said, we don't have the big man depth to afford a redshirt for anyone above 6'6"...

Watching him enter a game I worry about him snapping a limb. The kid needs to put on 30 pounds minimum.

Kaleb better up his game this season or I will be disappointed. He's got potential- just needs to dig deep.

You don't need to get the persons user/pass you just need them to log in through their computer and do a screen share (like join.me). Then all they have to do is send you the link. I've done this with friends in the past. Unfortunately I will not be at home today to do this for anyone here.

Dickerson out tonight with a concussion. Sounds like they must be going hard in practice.

Mount St. Mary's was a fixture on the old Hoya bball schedule, but the rivalry got pretty intense, so it was dropped for a long time. I don't think they played during my time, '62-'66, so it was dropped before I got there, probably in the late '50s.

How is it possible that things are still recorded with Standard Definition cameras?
