I don't understand this. I would be expecting them to pass out free guns to each attendee.

Not exactly. “Mostly false“The Associated Press @ap AP has deleted a tweet that incorrectly said the NRA had banned guns during Trump and Pence speeches at its annual meeting. The ban was put in place by the Secret Service. A corrected tweet is coming. 2:53 PM · Apr 30, 2018

Plus it's Texas, and shouldn't state laws supersede the ban placed by an onerous, overreaching FEDERAL agency?

Today’s shooting is the conservative dream - gun violence and an assault on the press all at once. I just hope that the gun made it out OK. Gotta keep focused on what’s really important.

Reports indicate that the alleged shooter, a white adult male, is refusing to tell investigators his name, and that he damaged his fingertips in an attempt to prevent identification through fingerprints. Doesn't look like a workplace-related shooting here.

Among other reasons, I assume this isn't workplace related because there are no reports that any of the surviving witnesses recognized him. It also appears their sportswriter is a victim in critical condition.

This does not appear to be the act of someone who was being encouraged by anti-media statements emanating from the White House. The alleged shooter, if his identification as reported is accurate, has had a long-time dispute with the Capital Gazette in Annapolis, and had filed a defamation lawsuit several years ago against the newspaper (which was dismissed by the trial court and which dismissal was affirmed on appeal). Instead, he appears to be a troubled individual who should not have had access to a firearm.

Once again, prayers failed.

I am so Editeding tired of thoughts and prayers being expressed after mass shootings. So Editeding tired. Yet, it's all we'll hear about as usual. Don't forget that it's not the time to politicize guns. Of course, with the frequency of shootings and the number of thoughts and prayers per shooting, there's little time to legislate anything or to really discuss the issue because it'll just never be the right time. Thoughts and prayers from a President that is really light on thoughts and isn't a religious person either. Incredibly sad irony.

Very important to censor the language because that's far more offensive than the actual shooting, the 24 hour coverage of the cutting down of innocent people, and the gory details with zero chance of any concerted effort to change the status quo. I'm so thankful they censored the " Edited" after the fact. If they hadn't, I'd be really upset and appalled.

There will be a lot more evidence to come, but it only takes about a two second glance at the shooter's twitter feed to conclude he is dangerously insane. And we can't even stop someone like that from getting a gun and finally killing people he'd been menacing for years.

This is worse than appalling. Of course, he's right, though. This guy bore a grudge against the newspaper for years, and he was inspired to finally take action by Maxine Waters' rhetoric. Every time Hannity opens his mouth, s&&t flies out.
