Three-star guard Bryce Lindsay is set to announce a college decision on Friday, and programs such as South Carolina, Oklahoma State and Pittsburgh are in the mix to land his pledge. The 6-foot-3 Maryland-based prospect visited all three of the aforementioned schools, but most recently toured the campus of South Carolina. The timing of the decision certainly seems to have the Gamecocks, who currently boast a two-member class comprised of forward Daniel Hankins-Sanford and point guard Zachary Davis. Lindsay, whose reputation is that of a shooter, is coming off an impressive performance at the Chick-Fil-A Classic a few weeks back and will provide whichever school he chooses with a scoring threat from long-range. Lindsay has recently shown an improved ability to create his own shot and seems to be evolving as a more complete prospect. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/florida-man-penny-hardaway-s-tirade-may-prove-costly

Just scrolling through the Rivals Top 150 for Class of 2022 -- here's where the DMV guys (at least the ones I can tell are from the DMV) are going:
22 Cam Whitmore -- Archbishop Spalding -- Villanova 36 Tyrell Ward -- DeMatha -- Xavier 44 Rodney Rice -- DeMatha -- Virginia Tech 59 Favour Aire -- Bishop McNamara -- Miami 71 Dug McDaniel -- Paul VI -- Michigan
There may be some more guys at IMG or Oak Hill or other powerhouses ... but just another year of swinging and missing on top local talent.

Lindsay chose the Gamecocks over Depaul, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M among others and it really came down to the efforts of the coaching staff and his most recent official visit that he took earlier this month. “I chose them because it just felt like a family vibe when I got on campus and that was mainly because of coach Martin,” he said. “He really reminds me of the coaches I've been playing with for my whole life. They push you hard and love you harder off the court.” 247sports.com/Article/Basketball-recruiting-South-Carolina-commit-Bryce-Lindsay-247Sports-181708508/

Are there any other '22 recruits we seem to be recruiting actively at the moment?

Are there any other '22 recruits we seem to be recruiting actively at the moment? Darren Buchanan 6’7 wing from DC… Other than him I don’t know. We just need to hold out for grad transfers. we have enough youth on the roster already

Are there any other '22 recruits we seem to be recruiting actively at the moment? The only other I can think of, is T.J. Power, who I believe is a PF with the ability to hit the 3. He's in the 2023 class, but is suspected to reclassify into 2022. Pat was in to see him at least once.

In another universe - with a better constructed roster - I would think Buchanan would be a great late addition for us -- local, good size, upside. With the current one, I'm not sure how much sense it makes to add him. But maybe there'll be some movement.

Was that Darren Buchanan the 6’7 wing from D.C. behind the bench at the Seton Hall game?

At what point does Darren earn his own thread?

Gtown has been on Buchanan heavy here of late. Wouldn’t be shocked if he were to commit soon. Ewing was at his game on Monday night.

Finally, some possible good news. Maybe some good news but at the end of the day, next years success will be tied to the grad transfer market not a late signee. The current freshman class will be a good one around their junior years. That is if they stay and if they develop. There is the issue. OUtside of an impact player like Aminu, it almost doesn't make sense to recruit freshman anymore. Whether it is Patrick or someone else, the key should be to recruit local freshman to develop a relationship so if they transfer back to the area we are in prime position. Other then that, spend all your time on the transfer market and one (max two) incoming freshman who are high four or five star kids who will play from day one. That is where the local piece can save us. Not on the front end, but on the back end. So a Terrence Williams as a fresh/soph/junior, meh. As a transfer junior or senior, now you are talking.

I want to continue to recruit and try to develop high school players. It would be nice to land a local kid.

Hoyalove and Blazer, The only thing about it...while it would satisfy the rabid calls for a local recruit, and I am a DC guy and applaud that generally, but Buchanan is only 6-7". We have plenty of of 6'6/6-7 guys! We need big, tall, talented guys that can make a difference inside and on the boards. Ewing cannot afford to satisfy the cries of this board!! If Buchanan were 6-9/10, I would think differenty!we are chronically undersized or underskilled when it comes to big guys. If we could roll all their assets ibto one, we'd be cooking with gas. Malcolm's speed, jumping ability, quickness and hands, Igoeffe's strength and bulk and Mutombo's ideas!

I thought that Buchanan was more of a PF than a wing...anybody know his game/seen him play recently? Also, what about the 6'10 Lebanese PF "Youseff" inside/outside very talented player who was suppose to visit in January..any news/info on him?
