Was that guy in blue to the left the guy that lost his beer in Beards Out of Bounds save attempt? Another recruit lost I guess, can’t come back from alcohol abuse like that.

For some reason there does not seem to be a connection with Mintz and the Hoyas. They seemed like they tried to get involved before his initial commitment and then I thought I heard he was siting behind the bench at a game after he decommited, but there does not seem to be any buzz for the Hoyas in his recruitment. Might just be a case where the young man does not want to stay in the area for college. I think he is a local kid. “It’s kinda funny that I’m getting even more attention now,” said Mintz, who is ranked No. 33 in the SI99. “But it’s cool. I’m open to everyone. I just want to make the best decision for me.” The 6’2” scoring guard initially picked the Panthers over Florida, Georgetown, LSU and Maryland, among many others. Now, Florida, Tennessee, Xavier, Vanderbilt, DePaul, Wake Forest and Kansas are all in consistent contact trying to make Pittsburgh’s loss their gain. “It was a tough decision, but I just felt like it was the right thing for me to do,” Mintz said. “I’m gonna figure out which schools I want to visit and then try and fit those into my busy schedule. It’ll be tough, but it’s what I have to do.” Mintz’s stock was at an all-time high this summer after dominating the prestigious Nike Peach Jam, pumping in 29.5 points over a torrid three-game stretch and finishing the Nike EYBL/Peach Jam averaging 18.2 points a game. Mintz is one of the most dangerous scorers in the class with the ability to efficiently score from all three levels. His motor remains in overdrive, constantly keeping pressure on the defense with his frantic pace. www.si.com/college/2021/12/15/judah-mintz-a-hot-commodity-si99-basketball-rankingsA one-time Pitt commit, four-star guard Judah Mintz is firmly back on the market and considering programs such as Florida, Xavier, Wake Forest and NC State. He has just one visit set in stone, however, and the Musketeers will be the recipient. Aside from the planned Xavier visit, which will take place on Jan. 25, Mintz has no other other travel plans. And while the four-star prospect declines to call the Musketeers his official leader, the upcoming visit is certainly being treated as massively important. “I’m actually missing a game to take the visit,” Mintz said following a 22-point performance that earned him MVP honors in his Oak Hill team’s win over La Lumiere on Saturday. Mintz says he intends to take his time before making a decision about his college future but has set a rough target date of “late March.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/cassidy-s-takeaways-hoophall-classic

Mintz says he intends to take his time before making a decision about his college future but has set a rough target date of “late March.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/cassidy-s-takeaways-hoophall-classicON HIS DECISION TIMETABLE “I’ll probably announce a commitment around Geico Nationals (late March).” ON SCHOOLS IN THE MIX “Xavier, Florida, Wake Forest and NC State.” ON XAVIER “They want me to come in and run the point. They told me to come in and be around the guys they already have, and they’re ready to make a run in the tournament next year. When that happens, they want me to be the head of the snake.” ON FLORIDA At Florida, they just want me to play my game and be a scoring guard like I already do. They think I can play in the SEC because I play fast and get up and down. ON HIS UPCOMING VISIT TO XAVIER It’s kind of hard taking visits right now because of our season. I have one to Xavier Jan 25-27, but even that was hard. I’m actually missing a game for it. It’s that hard to fit them in right now. ON IF HE’LL TAKE OTHER VISITS AFTER XAVIER I mean, anything is possible, but I plan to take all my visits. That’s the plan right now anyway, ON WHAT HE WANTS IN A SCHOOL “I want to be in a position where I can be around guys that want to win as much as I do, I want to be able to play my game and make an impact as a freshman.” RIVALS REACTION: Mintz is no lock to Xavier, but the fact that he’s missing a game to visit campus certainly indicates the interest is real. Until he sets additional trips, the Musketeers have to be seen as the slight leader. A lot can change between now and a possible late March announcement, however, so this is a situation to monitor in the month ahead. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/judah-mintz-upcoming-xavier-visit-feels-important

As one of the best shotmakers available in the class, Lindsay is definitely not afraid to shoot the three as he connected from very deep on multiple occasions, shooting both off the dribble and in the catch and shoot. With Davis and Carrington on the team he plays more off the ball but can really score it in bunches. Lindsay’s shooting opens up the floor for him and his teammates as he forces defenses to extend. On the recruitment side of things, Lindsay will visit South Carolina this week with Louisville, Pittsburgh and DePaul as other programs pursuing. 247sports.com/college/tennessee/Article/Basketball-recruiting-Cam-Whitmore-Khani-Rhoots-Daquan-Davis-Bryce-Lindsay-247Sports-180885309/

Virginia Tech basketball currently has a Top-30 three-man class for 2022: CG MJ Collins, CG Rodney Rice, and C Patrick Wessler. Mike Young is looking to add at least one more name to the class in senior forward Darren Buchanan. Averaging a double-double on the season, the Woodrow Wilson High School (DC) standout found time to travel to Blacksburg this past weekend to watch the Hokies rally from down 10 to beat Notre Dame in Cassell Coliseum. “It was a super-crazy great atmosphere!” says Buchanan. “I love the way the arena is set up with the crowd over top of you. The fans are amazing and are all about Virginia Tech.” “I’ve known (Virginia Tech associate head coach and former DeMatha Catholic head coach) Mike Jones for some years now and him just talking to me often has been really great,” explains Buchanan. “Coach Webster as well. Me and him know a lot of the same people, so [my relationship is] great with all of them.” As for the head whistle Mike Young himself, Buchanan says, “He’s a great coach and has a great coaching staff around him. They are all caring coaches and want the best for you, but most importantly, they are winners.” “I’m thinking about making a decision in February or March,” Darren says. “I’m just looking for a program where I can maximize the opportunity in every way.” In addition to Virginia Tech, Buchanan currently holds offers from a host of programs, including Rutgers, Xavier, St. Bonaventure, VCU, George Washington, and Pitt. Georgetown, Marquette, Wisconsin, and South Carolina have also expressed interest. While Darren still plans to schedule more unofficial and official visits, a few programs are sticking out in this phase of his recruitment. “Definitely Virginia Tech, George Mason, and Georgetown, even though they haven’t offered yet.” Buchanan plans to take a return visit to Blacksburg. 247sports.com/college/virginia-tech/Article/DC-Star-Darren-Buchanan-Talks-Hokies-Offer-Visit-181050521/

We don't have any scholarships left and if any open up which they probably will I would guess we would look for another Tre King type player from the portal.

Agreed if we have 1-2 spots for next year the we need to use it on experienced, proven players ready to step in from Day 1

Yes, we could certainly use another player who leaves school without ever making it to the court.

I can’t see any Kobe Clark would come back. We’ve had transfers every year since Ewing has been here. This yr will be no different

This yr will be no different Board rule against speculatively naming players you think will transfer out, I thought. I'm not sure ANY team in the country will ever have another season without somebody going into the "portal". I don't think there's a board rule against random speculation about who might transfer in. Poetic justice if we got Julian Reese that way. Board rule against speculatively naming players you think will transfer out, I thought. I think he's the guy his High school coach had in mind when the coach sent out that snarky tweet urging Georgetown coaches to get in the gyms and see local players.

Judah Mintz looking at Wale Forest. I’ll say it once, I’ll say it again. They have rebuilt in 1.5 years. We are in year 5 with 1 season in the tourney. No reason this should take this long

I’m like 99.9% sure he doesn’t actually have an offer. Nothing to watch here.
