Hoops: Carter, Guyer roll over Plano East Not even a nasty spill could slow down Denton Guyer senior Grayson Carter on Friday. Carter scored 17 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, and the state’s No. 1 ranked team rolled to a 90-54 victory over Plano East in District 6-6A play. Carter scored 10 points in the first quarter and appeared well on his way to a huge night before taking a tumble in the second quarter. At the forefront of a breakaway, Carter went up for a dunk and was fouled from behind. He missed the dunk, slipped on the rim and fell hard on his back. He stayed down for several minutes before getting to his feet to shoot two free throws. He only scored seven points the rest of the way, but his defensive intensity increased and he even hit a couple of 3-pointers. “He was really aggressive tonight, and when he mixes in that outside shot with his post-up game, he’s pretty hard to guard,” said Grant Long, Guyer head coach. “We’re lucky to have him on our team.” Carter, a Georgetown commit, was joined by his all-star juniors, De’Vion Harmon and Jalen Wilson, as scoresheet stuffers; the trio combined for 55 points, outscoring East as whole. starlocalmedia.com/planocourier/hoops-carter-guyer-roll-over-plano-east/article_be0bf144-fd96-11e7-9b53-ebd9af0e3e0a.html

Okay, after looking at some highlights -- much more fluid than Govan, and taller than Dickerson. But not particularly bouncy or strong. But more like MD in his comfort level handling and moving.

He looks a little more athletic and smoother on the perimeter than Jessie or Marcus. Less physical but more skilled. I think he should be a pretty good offensive player as a freshman. Would like see some more aggressive defense and rebounding, but those are not things that you typically see on highlight videos.

Guyer’s playing good basketball. Good to see Carter performing well on a very good team; tells me he is probably being efficient as well since there a bunch of good players on that team. I can see Carter playing alongside Derrickson as two “bigs”. Leblanc as well; I think we are good shape at the 4 spot for next year.
