What the heck is wrong with these kids today? In the first sequence, McClung nearly destroys the opposing center with posterization, and in response #30 in red who has the world's worst haircut, and who had absolutely nothing to do with the play, made no contribution whatsoever, starts barking like he's made the most insane block in the universe or an earthshattering dunk. The next three highlights are McClung nailing threes right in the kid's face.

Right behind the Hoyas bench today with what looked like his parents. They were. The CBS broadcast caught a moment in which Ewing was shaking their hands just before tipoff and I immediately recognized them.

I just saw him on TV behind our bench. So calm and cool with his family lol. But on the court he's a monster. Love it!

"You know the funny thing is, I noticed though, the people in the crowd - the parents and the students at the school - they're not cheering very loud. And I wondered if that's because they're so used to this - I guess Mac McClung just dunks so much that they've become numb to this kind of play? I know with all the high school basketball that I've watched in my lifetime - most of the time if there's a white dude under 6'5" that gets a dunk, you get a big applause. Any player for that matter - you get a dunk, it's a big applause, for him to be 6'2", for him to windmill like that, you think people would be losing their minds, but the truth is I guess you get a little numb to stuff when you see it."
I thought it was interesting he pointed out the left handed floater too and the degree of difficulty on that.

Kid has all the tools. May need a year of seasoning, but he will be a big part of the ascent.

I'm surprised no one has made a Grayson Allen comparison yet (unless I missed it). Mac is a couple inches shorter, but the similarities are striking.

Similarities: both white guards with above average/elite athleticism Differences: everything else... Allen was a McD AA who dominated elite competition at his position both in HS an AAU circuits... I am not sure you would find them so similar where they not white either by the way - a 6'2" guard and a 6'4" guard don't often get called strikingly similar only because they can rip off highlight reel dunks...

Mac's dunks are good for any color, period. I have been watching basketball for a long time and you don't see 6'2" high school guards executing alley oop reverse slams with this much ease.

Agreed, but Mac is closer to Jacob Tucker skill level wise than Allen... that's all I am saying... And by the way, I am excited he is coming to Gtown and I hope he works hard at all those skills that have him ranked in the 200s rather than the top 25 like Allen was coming out of HS. No knock on Mac at all, just a dose or realism about who he is and what he will likely be on day 1 - put the work in and wow us

Wow. I'm not sure what generated this type of response. I saw striking similarities in their games, demeanor, effort, fight, intensity, and athleticism. I would never, ever bring a color comparison into the discussion. A real shame you did.

One who was nowhere near as explosive in-game? That's worse than the Grayson Allen comp. This kid seems like he can do a lot of things - he's got a lot of elevation on his jumper, it seems pretty balanced, he attacks the basket at a level that probably will work in the BE, has some fight, makes good passes, good creativity. I think a lot of people are too hung up on the mixtape / poor competition element at play here.

From the game reports and the highlights, it looks like he's hitting his 3s at a good clip, from different angles and on the move, not just set shots. We could used that today. Plus, it seems like he has better handles than the guards we have now and has a very quick first step. Depending on how the season goes and pending any spring recruits, I think he plays a lot next year and energizes the team and the crowd.
