Count me as one who thinks that this kid is going to exceed expectations and do some special things. Georgetown has a long line of guys who were under ranked or off the radar who grew into their shoes.
I do think that people have a tendency to put far more weight on player rankings than they do in trusting what they see. Take another kid we recruited Trey Lewis for example as a comparison. Lewis played on higher profile high school and AAU teams, is a similar size and has a similar skill set, but the difference was he was considered an all-American out of high school because people were far more exposed to him. At the end of the day, after a series of transfers, lewis struggled getting minutes as a 5th year senior. I seriously doubt that happens with Mac who is known to have a high b-ball IQ, is tough as nails, is more gifted offensively and far more athletic than Lewis. Gotta trust what you see.

Now on this mix tape he is looking like Scott Skiles with a 45" vertical. I know Skiles is a painful comp.

I don't think he lacks exposure, not after this summer. He isn't ranked high because right now he's not a true point guard or a knockdown shooter. He's a heady player who can leap. I don't think he translates his athleticism over to games the way you guys think. He doesn't play as explosive with the ball in his hands. High IQ player for sure. Not going to hurt you with silly mistakes like a lot of the guys we have recruited.
It's a win for us if he develops into a bonafide Big East PG, which we currently don't have. But he's got a long way to go. Let him get there, don't add fuel to the youtube hype machine. That's not indicative of the player he is.

Agree 95. I do have a feeling that after years watching young guns come into The League and either pan out or wash out, Patrick will have a pretty good sense of what kids really can (and should) do and what they can't.

You don't believe Jiggy or juggy will be bonafide Big East PG's, I do, especially Jagan.

No I don't. I don't see Jagan as a PG. He's gonna play there based on our roster construction. He's a secondary playmaker who finds and attacks gaps. That's his strength.

Based purely off his freshman year, I would agree with you. But there's always the possibility to be coached into that role, and I saw nothing to suggest he was in any way unable to potentially become that player.

Point guard is so much of an instinctive position. Tough to go against guys who have played it a lot longer.

I like that. Especially since the kids know who he is from his youtube videos. Makes whoever they are there to see feel like a major priority because the whole staff is there and the future PG.

Great sign seeing McClung invested in the team's recruiting success. We need everyone (that the NCAA allows) to help in that regard. Players can effectively recruit players individually and, even at worst, are capable of creating buzz about the program's upward trajectory. Seeing is believing for a lot of people and McClung showing he's all in means more than a coach just saying we're family, etc. I like how this is going. Keep getting better at everything -- recruiting, practice, games (and scheduling eventually!). It's a process.

Agree! This kid is no sleeper! He will be a very good to great (sensational?) player for us before he is finished.

It's Official!!! Time to change the thread title. Gotta love that he did it in the library! Syracuse recruits would need to GPS their library.
