I liked Zay's game based on the footage.
The optimist in me though thinks they're keeping scholarships open for Ryan, and going 1 scholarship over to really go after Baldwin, OR MOHAMMED! There's a lot of positive signs for Aminu coming to Georgetown, we just got to cross the finish line.
Khalil Brantley wouldn't be a bad consolation though (and an upgrade over Folkes, IMO). Haven't heard any news on Khalil in a long time though.

Folkes was an intriguing prospect. To me it was kinda telling that Murray State was one of the few teams that gave him a firm offer. They were hoping for lightning to strike twice. Ewing definitely has a type when it comes to his guards. I wonder why a kid with that much athleticism and a good rep based on that one recruiting writeup could be so low he almost fell into the 400s of his class. Obviously recruiting is not an exact science; a good chunk of NBA players have always been guys who were relatively unknown in high school
Folkes' choice also further points out what some of us have been trying to get across for a while. Just because a kid says he has an offer doesn't necessary mean he has one....at least not a "complete" one. Many offers can come with certain stipulations that can put recruits in a holding position until the bigger schools determine what's happening with higher ranked recruits. You can't tell me that Georgetown, the only school of name and only from a big time conference, offered this kid in December, gave him the virtual tour later on in July only for him to wait it out until Charlotte entered the scene late and snatch him away. I mean Georgetown may be down but not THAT down. Perhaps Folkes would have waited it out a few more months after the December offer to see if even a hotter school than Gtown would seek his services. But nearly ten months later and with no other huge program giving him a hard look, there is little doubt in my mind that he would have picked the Hoyas if the offer meant there was an open spot for him right now if he wanted it.
Good luck to that guy. I think if Gtown had more schollies to give around for 2021 he would probably have been on next season's roster.

I think a big chunk of his ranking was his level of competition. Middleburg doesn’t play a crazy tough schedule so to really be highly ranked at a school like that he would’ve had to put up serious numbers. At Putnam he will probably have a better chance of showcasing his potential.

People pick schools for all sorts of reasons: coaches, playing style, relationships, family proximity, playing time, fit, feel of the school, etc. We don’t get to just select over anyone, and kids should go where they feel they will be successful and enjoy themselves.

I think kids ultimately select GU because they feel they will be successful on and off the court. Not sure if GU can sell enjoyment. 😉

Okay, that's nice and all but I bet the house that if the Gtown offer was completely "first come, first served", Folkes would have picked Georgetown months ago. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

Assuming Earl Timberlake stays at least two years, that should be a pretty good team. A lot of lefties too

Son of Lamont Strothers, who played for Christopher Newport University, 3rd all time leading scorer of D3. Father coaches son.
