Not that our fanbase needs to be brought back down to earth, but this is a good reminder of the kind of talent it takes to keep fielding winning teams. We're pretty excited about our group so far - with good reason - and yet none of them even make this list. And virtually every team's going to say "...and our guys are under-rated!" Forget Nova, who seem to be scooping up top 50 kids yearly. UConn & DePaul both have multiple kids on the list and good recruiting teams like XU & Marquette show up, as usual. It's great that Pat's got an early jump on commits this year, but he really needs to close it out strong for us to end up with a standout class. I trust Coach to do just that. Nova's gains terms of exposure and "blueblood" status is a direct result of us underachieving and missing out on a few recruits who wanted to stay home n play for us. That being said...i think we need to view this current 2021 class as the new norm....when this recruiting cycle is over with...we'll look back n say this was the class that brought us to the upper-echelon like we're used to.

Just a tangential observation: we’ve spent time at various East coast beaches this summer, from North Carolina to New England, and I’ve been amazed at the amount of Villanova gear I’ve seen all over the place. I’ve seen maybe one Georgetown hat. Obviously furthest thing from scientific but these are brands going in very different directions in the public’s eye.
This is a direct result of the slide to irrelevance that JT3 allowed to happen at the dawn of the new conference, and Villanova’s simultaneous rise to elite status.
Here’s hoping the recent momentum can start to shift that balance back a bit.

A continued slide, right?

Maybe kg is looking for a catchier name to illustrate his point. Free Fallin???
Seriously, the fact that the slide began under III should not be in dispute, as is the fact that the current regime must do better. I agree, however, that there is reason for optimism. We have talent and athleticism so the key will be blending the personalities into a coherent team, something that did not happen last year.

We had just started the climb back up the slide - when we lost our footing and slid back down. Now we are starting that slow climb again.

Agree with this, except that I think that there is no need to accept that it must be a slow climb to relevancy. Transfers are not an excuse, and it is possible to restore credibility relatively quickly. With the right combination of players Ewing can prove that this year--hopefully.

True, should have said long climb because there is a long way to go.

Is that how you see it BigSky? That would be true at the start of the year, but once Akinjo and LaBlanc departed Coach did an outstanding job of "blending that talent into a coherent team"... at least IMHO. To go a bit further, in my view our Hoyas played the best team basketball in the Ewing era from that point forward, even after losing two more kids. It wasn't until McClung and Yurtseven went down with injuries that the team looked overwhelmed -- though still playing team ball. I look at that as a source of optimism once college basketball returns, whenever that may be.

My comment was directed to the season as a whole. I agree we made strides but only after chemistry issues led to mid and post season departures.

Couldn't this conversation be in the "where did it go wrong" thread? Rather than putting sour grapes on a pretty positive recruiting class thread we can contain all of the Nova is great and we suck commentary in the other thread... 🤷🏾♂️

Thanks, oh believe me I remember those teams like it was yesterday. DC schools weren't too bad themselves. Dunbar in DC, Spingarn and Mckinley Tech had great players back then and these schools along with Dematha, Gonzaga, St Anthony's, Carrol were area ranked schools with Dunbar and Dematha swinging back and forth with national rankings. This was the climate when Ewing was being recruited at Georgetown. Ewing had as his teammates David Wingate and Reggie Williams from Dunbar HS (Baltimore), Anthony "Redds" Jones from Dunbar HS (DC), Gene Smith and Billy Martin from McKinley Tech HS (DC), Michael Graham from Spingarn HS (DC), Eric Smith from Potomac HS (Potomac Maryland), Michael Jackson (I think Reston HS) (Reston VA). This is what I mean when I say recruit the best from the local DC, MD and VA area along with Bmore and then go after some high profile/high rank guys nationally. That should be our model. For nostalgia purposes:

Whoa. Interesting list, two things different from all others and we are definitely different from all the rest!

Yaboy do you feel he is a lock for Seton Hall or do we have a chance here?
