This is a much needed recruiting victory for Pat and staff and a much needed Injection of PTSD therapy for the board!

I'll believe it when I see it, but that's quite the development We got a good one here. Definitely a miss by the recruiting services.

Great get today. But now I’m not sold on using on of these last scholarships on Mal Smith. We already have 2 CGs for the 2021 class and 2 PGs from the 2020 class. I think we should push for a wing and a big to finish the class. Keep the open slots for Aminu and Mutumbo for the time being. 2021 will *hopefully* look like this Harris Riley Carey Sibley Wahab Ighoefe Clark Beard Wilson Holloway Berger +2 recruits I think we should prioritize SF/PF/C

Daaaaayum, coach done flipped a recruit! Bout time it happened to some other school instead of us for a change. I like the pickup coach! Okay, now with this new pickup, my new wishlist for 2021: Ryan Mutombo Frankie Collins/Malachi Smith If no Ryan Mutombo, I would take Baldwin or Frank Kepnang. No hate intended at all, but I love how the wishlist goes from if we can't get a top 70 player in Mutombo, I'm ok with falling back on a top 2 player and a top 25 player. I'd also add Mohammed, personally.

"Riley said he’s working on recruiting three-star St. Raymond’s Class of 2021 guard Malachi Smith and five-star Class of 2022 Oak Hill Academy (VA) guard M.J. Rice to Georgetown." Have we been linked with MJ Rice recently?

If Sibley is ready by Year 2, he may be able to slide in as the starter. If he's not, there's a big hole to fill. In either scenario, we still need a viable backup/contributor there.

We need a couple of big guys for next year so really I would really want Mutombo and Kepnang but Frankie is to appealing to resist so I could take him over Kepnang. Malachi says he would like to come to Georgetown and play with Beard and that definitely works for me. So that is my thinking. I hope you guys understand. As far as Mohammed, I would love to have him but what other player would you choose to go along with him for our last recruit? Would you take Mohammed and Mutombo? I can live with that if that is the case. But if you get Mohammed would that create an unbalanced roster with too many shooting guards (Berger, Riley, Mohammed Carey and Clark)?

No, all good I understand your thought process, I just thought that was pretty funny. As for Mohammed, yes he and Mutombo would be my ideal two. But, with this being 2021 and transfers being so common, I'd expect that at least someone (not going to speculate on who) ends up transferring. It's just how college basketball is at this point. I'd expect us to have at least three openings. If we only have the two, I'd be pleasantly surprised. But, if I had to pick two guys, in a perfect world, I'm taking Mohammed and Mutombo. Mohammed is a very talented prospect and has shown interest in the program and I think he's a guy the staff should really go after. He's a kid who could make the 2021-22 team so much better. That could change the direction of the program and with him showing significant interest, I think you have to go after him hard. Also, I think that some of those guys (Mohammed, Clark, Carey) can all play the three and you just can't pass on the kind of talent Mohammed is. I also think Berger or Carey could be a backup PG and the rotation could work itself out. But I mean if we get Mutombo and Smith as the last two and I'm not complaining. But, I think the staff would be incredibly foolish not to go try to get Mohammed.

So in ZB's words, everyone in the final 5 has a shot but Georgetown. I don't think he knows tbh. He definitely didn't. That may have been more of a SJU homer tweet than we originally thought.

I don't want to see anyone transfer out; I like the nucleus of players we have. I think we have enough talent with the freshmen we have on out team, and who will be sophomores by next year. If we get Mohammed and Mutombo, my lord, we will be atop the Big East in not time! With that in mind and no transfers, can I get a starting lineup from you and maybe go five deep please? The reason why I say five deep is because I can see a whole lot of guys playing easily. I see this as the 1982 Hoyas with the depth of the team. I'm easily seeing twelve guys playing, on a nightly basis, to be quite honest. I say this because I see each one of these guys having unique skills that can benefit the team. I wanna see that Hoya full court pressure that the Hoyas used to play back when coach was a player. You need plenty of guards to make that happen. Anyways, there I go fantasizing again. I was going to go on about how you can use everyone of these kids unique talents but I digressed. Let me get a starting five from you and a five deep please.

I always heard it was an SJU vs Georgetown battle but most of the smoke was around St John's. Tbf to Zach a few days later he changed to that opinion and was one of the first guys implying that Georgetown had a legit shot. At that time of that tweet however, I don't think he was informed just making an educated guess on what seemed logical at the moment.

Obviously, I wouldn't want anyone to transfer either. I'd love to see the current group succeed. But, I think as a coach you have to plan for at least someone. And of coursem if someone goes pro who wasn't expected to, we don't complain because that means we probably had a pretty good season and the kid is going to have success which I'd love to see. That being said, I'll get into that lineup with Mutombo and Mohammed. Man, you're asking a lot out of me lol. I'd go with Carey-Riley-Mohammed-Sibley-Q Beard-Mutombo-Clark-Harris-Tim/Malcolm To elaborate, I'd go with that group starting with Beard playing a Lou Will like role off of the bench (I just think this role fits him better than Riley) and Mutombo as the next guy off the bench playing both big spots. I think those are the core seven, all playing a good amount of minutes. I'm not going to do a minutes breakdown of a lineup we may potentially have, but just imagine those guys all play 20+ minutes. I wouldn't be shocked if Beard starts over Carey or Riley, or if Mutombo starts over Sibley . Then I'd add Clark, Harris and Malcolm/Tim (take your pick, or both) just off of what I've seen so far. I could be completely wrong and off base, especially without seeing 9 of these guys play minutes in a Hoyas jersey, but this is my take as of now (which can and will change).

Do dominoes start falling into place now, or will there be a long wait until the next recruit? Would certainly be nice to have some more of these guys in place sooner rather than later. Is there any word on when guys like Collins, Mohammed, Mutombo, Kepnang, Smith, Robinson, etc. are planning on making commitments?

Your ten sounds good to me. At first I was thinking of Riley as a SG but in an article I read, he thinks of himself as a PG. His father even calls him the quarterback for this team. I already know that they are expecting him to start right off jump. I have to admit, I didn't necessarily having him start in his first year. However, because of all the expectations about him being able to give our team a boost, I guess he would start in year 1. With that being said, here is my 12 and that includes your guy Mohammed and Mutombo. I expect all of the kids to play with about 7 role playing. Starting five: I got the same five you came up with. Mutombo Beard Holloway Harris Berger Tim Clark Malcolm. I see the five maybe avg just about 20 mins and the all that I mentioned from the remaining bench all playing significant roles and getting time each night. Yikes! Switch Clark for Holloway. I forgot Kobe plays defense. I favor the defensive minded guy over the offensive minded guy. I like Holloway a lot because of his ability to get to the rim and I believe that he is a better o-guy than Clark but I believe Clark will play better d. However, who knows? Switch Clark and Holloway on a night by night need by need basis.

Noooooo no more guards coach! We have enough now. We need a couple of big men. If we get Mutombo, we need just one big man mostly a pf or a big sf (Baldwin hint hint). If you get another guard let it be Mohammed!!!

Folkes transferred to Putnam Science btw. You have to figure the staff would be interested in one of him or Malachi Smith.

Didn't he and the House kid that the Hoya recruited play together last year So if they are considering Malachi Smith and Frankie Collins, maybe Folkes is just another option for that position. I think all three of those kids are really good players, so I would take any one of them. If one of them does commit, I think the others guys lose interest in Georgetown.

Yep and add khalil Brantley to that mix also. Think those are the 4 kids they are targeting for the pg spot unless somehow they land Joseph who seems unlikely.
