The board doesn't hate Wilson he is just a project that needs time. He is kinda in the same boat as Grayson Carter a few yrs ago. This is the big East conference not a mid major conference. We got two centers in front of Wilson, likely mutombo next year. Minutes just aren't there for him.
No hate here just being upfront and honest.

Wow. I hadn't seen him before. That's not a kid who finishes outside the top 100. Impressive hands/dexterity for somebody that big. He's certainly rated too low right now. He's better all around than Deng was at this point as he has more range. Deng was impressive in HS as well but has been a disappointment. The injury has played a part in this. Gorjok wasn't as highly rated and has also been a disappointment. I think them coming over when AK was younger certainly helps with his development compared to the others.

Actually more of a project. The difference is Tim has a grown mans body and Malcolm needed more weight and strength. I'm betting the year did wonders with those 2 issues and Malcolm will be the 1st big off the bench next year.

I pray we get Frank Kepnang, Ryan Mutombo, Frankie Collins and either Patrick Baldwin, Chet Holmgreen or Moussa Cisse in our next class.

I think you are selling us short... why not Holmgren and Baldwin?! In all seriousness, I think the realistic goal is one of Mutombo or Collins. If we just get one of them, that would be a coup based on our recent track record wading in these waters...

We don't have to sell ourselves short with just two players as you are implying when you say "realistic goal". We have to just sale (sell) these guys on Gtown just like any other program sells the cream of the crop on their schools. If we happen to get one, I will be happy but I am hoping for four top players. What makes you think that we can only get one and that we have to settle for either Mutombo or Collins? What gives you this idea?

What gives you this idea? I'm all for optimism. But for the record, your proposed 2021 recruiting class would be: - the 3 highest rated recruits Patrick Ewing has ever signed - Mutombo is the only one who technically falls behind Akinjo (I think, was looking at rivals but i'm sure it's close). So lets call it 4 of the top 5 he's ever signed and Mutombo is definitely heading in the right direction to end up even higher. Yes, that class is absolutely possible as they are basketball players and we have basketball scholarships (I'm not aware of Cisse even being an option for 2021, but I digress). But it's also reasonable to be at least a little skeptical. Or at least prepared for what happens if those players dont sign what are the fallbacks where we wont be competing with blue bloods. And I'm fine w Ewing chasing all of them, as long as he's also investing an equal amount of time in other options so we're not left scrambling in April. Top 150 players are going off the board at a staggering pace compared to last year, which makes sense given the current environment. My stretch goal for Ewing is 2 top 100 players, as that would be a sign recruiting is heading in the right direction, which is really back to the Akinjo/ LeBlanc level.

We always are floating offers to top kids, getting in their final five with nothing to show for it. I'll believe it when I see it.

Number of 2021 offers by Big East school, per Verbal Commits. There's a trend here. Butler: 6 for 3 open spots Villanova 9 for 5 Connecticut 13 for 4 Creighton 14 for 4 Providence 18 for 3 Marquette 22 for 5 Seton Hall 24 for 5 St. John's 26 for 3 DePaul 40 for 3 Xavier 41 for 6 Georgetown 44 for 4

I guess it just highlights how the recruiting strategy differs from school to school. Some schools seem to limit the number of offers and I assume focus very heavily on those few players, where the Hoyas and a few other schools cast a very wide net and are involved, (or try to be involved) with a much higher number of players. I never realized what a difference there was in offers between the schools.

At the end of the day it will speak volumes when my 2-3 stars beat your 4-5 stars.

PE and staff are putting in work, never leave a stone un-turned. At the end of the day it will speak volumes when my 2-3 stars beat your 4-5 stars. Why not just offer the entire Top 150 then? Does that show "no stone unturned"? The need for a change in recruiting approach was apparent after last season. Instead, Ewing went with the same three coaches which have been recruiting for the last three years.

A fair point, although my sense is that there has been far less turnover I assistants across the board due to VOVID-19 concerns.
