We ain't getting no team takeover kids for a long time. A lot of the Takeover kids are overrated. As a group they play well together in the EYBL. Individually a good chunk of them have struggled to live up to their hype in college...

LOWE TAKES OVER AT WINSTON-SALEM CHRISTIAN Antonio Lowe, the former head coach at Moravian Prep which was considered the top independent team in the state last season has taken over head coaching duties at Winston-Salem Christian. Lowe is part of the Team Loaded NC, Adidas branded AAU program and is known for bringing talent wherever he is at. Last season Lowe had a Moravian Prep roster that including Josh Hall, NC State signee Shakeel Moore, UNC-Wilmington signee Jamarhi Harvey and Southern Mississippi signee Javarzia Belton. At Winston-Salem Christian, Lowe has already brought in some players that are attracting some major college attention. 6-foot-7 wing Daniel Nixon who played this past travel season with Team Durant and recently was offered by Georgetown has transferred in along with 6-foot-4 guard Quante Berry who holds offers from ETSU, Florida, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Vanderbilt and more. hoopseen.com/news/general/202005/carolina-corner-justinbyerly-0“During this quarantine I’ve heard consistently from Iowa, East Carolina, Cincinnati, Seton Hall, Tulsa, Pittsburgh, Tulane, UCF, Auburn, Miami and Marquette,” said Nixon. He continued about his recruitment, “I just really have been doing zoom calls and virtual visits. Due to COVID, I don’t really know as of yet when I’ll start taking any visits. My recruitment is fully open, and I am just taking my time.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Daniel-Nixon-basketball-recruiting-Iowa-Cincinnati-East-Carolina-Seton-Hall-Pittsburgh-147882715/

2. THREE NYC POINT GUARDS WOULD HAVE BENEFITED FROM SUMMER EVALUATION
As we continue to wait and see if there will be a full return of grassroots basketball this summer and whether or not the NCAA will establish live periods in the late summer or early fall, I continue to consider players that have been negatively impacted. The numbers are countless, but in New York City, there is a trio of rising senior point guards from the class of 2021 that are likely seeing some impact.
Don't get me wrong, Khalil Brantley, JaQuan Carlos and Malachi Smith all have attention. But, I know that I was sure looking forward to getting to know more about them and so were several coaches. Each has their own unique style, so here's a quick look.
As for Brantley, he’s a tough and physical scorer. As a junior he led New York City in scoring and gets hot from deep while also using his strong frame to bounce off of defenders while driving to the rim. Though he’s developed a reputation for his scoring, Brantley can also be a playmaker and is versatile enough to play at the one or the two in college. Heading into his junior season, he held offers from Iona and Manhattan. Since February, though, Creighton, Georgetown, Oklahoma State and Seton Hall have all joined in.
Last but not least is Smith. The best playmaker for others of the trio, he’s the younger brother of former Dayton star and Rivals150 point guard Dayshon “Schoochie” Smith. He’s a crafty playmaker for others and a dynamic passer who sits just outside the current Rivals150. His vision, navigation of the pick and roll and ability to score when needed likely would have earned him many more admirers this summer. As it is, he’s not doing too bad with Dayton, Georgetown, Seton Hall and Washington State among the many who have offered scholarships.

Recent history doesn’t align well with Virginia landing five-star commitments. The Wahoos have ridden seasoned veterans who have developed under Tony Bennett to great success rather than one-and-done prospects. Might that change with its 2021 class? UVA is involved with three five-stars, and another, Jalen Warley, could easily land his fifth star in the coming months. Warley just cut his list to a final 10 and while it is promising that UVA would be included just after offering a week earlier, Virginia is playing catch-up. Of the others, Trevor Keels is the most likely to commit to Virginia. Villanova is also heavily involved, and of course, never count out Duke or North Carolina. Ohio State hosted him for an official visit and UConn has maintained a presence, but Keels has been prioritized by Virginia. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/wednesday-s-leftovers-virginia-harrison-ingram-more

One of the most intriguing storylines in basketball recruiting in the last month and a half has been the high major offer surge for Angelo Brizzi. The 6-foot-3, 170-pound 2021 point guard from Warrenton (Va.) Highland had a long list of mostly low to mid major offers exiting his high school season. Since the beginning of April? Villanova, Georgetown, California, Colorado, Virginia Tech, LSU and Michigan have all come through with offers. The wave of offers has been a surprise even for Brizzi. “I really couldn’t even tell you what happened,” Brizzi said. “Me and my dad have been sending out tape but I couldn’t even tell you; all of this just kind of happened.” “I know that I’m looking for a program with great culture where I connect with coaches and like the campus. I’ll go anywhere, near or far.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Villanova-Georgetown-California-Colorado-Virginia-Tech-LSU-Michigan-basketball-recruiting-Angelo-Brizzi-147044307/Name: Angelo Brizzi Offers: Michigan, Villanova, LSU, Marquette, Georgetown, Colorado, California He was a mystery to man before Villanova offered, but since his high school film began circulating, the offers have come in, in a major way. A legit point guard with size and shot making, Brizzi had some impressive moments as a junior, and he is beginning to see some of the nation’s best programs join the mix in his recruitment. Brizzi is an excellent passer with deep range, and while he can try to do too much at times, he shows his natural ability off quite often. Look for more schools to join the mix with Brizzi as his stock is only going to continue to go up. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/LongFormArticle/Basketball-recruiting-Kansas-Villanova-Rahsool-Diggins-North-Carolina-DMarco-Dunn-Xavier-Texas-Illinois-Jahmai-Mashack-147383306/#147383306_3Arizona: “They are obviously one of the really good spots for point guards in the country. Coach [Sean] Miller knows how to develop point guards. It’s a really good program. I’m just now starting to speak with their staff and look forward to speaking with them more.” Michigan: “I love talking to Coach [Juwan] Howard and Coach [Phil] Martelli. The one thing about Coach Howard is he’s such a great person to talk to. This year they were really good and got up into the top of the rankings. The fact they were that good in his first year says a lot.” North Carolina: “Carolina speaks for itself. They’ve also had really good point guards coming through. Coach [Roy] Williams is one of the best in the business. It’s Carolina.” Villanova: “Sort of along the same lines as some of the others, Coach [Jay] Wright has been at Villanova for a while and he knows what he’s doing and produced a ton of NBA players. They have had guys like me come through that might not be one-and-done prospects and he puts them in the league. It’s obviously a top tier program. Virginia: “I didn’t the visit the campus, but I’ve been in Charlottesville before. It’s a nice town. Coach [Tony] Bennett is one of the best coaches in college basketball right now. They have had really good guards come through. It’s a really good program and a really good education as well.” Wake Forest: “I had a zoom call with their staff and we didn’t even do a presentation or anything. We just talked and I really liked them. I’ve been talking to one of their assistants a lot since then and I really like them.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/four-star-angelo-brizzi-s-recruitment-is-thriving

Mount St. Mary’s has recently gotten him on zoom for a call that resulted in a scholarship, while Georgetown assistant coach Robert Kirby has remains in contact on-and-off.

I'm more convinced than ever that Pat's ultimate goal is to play 11 centers.

Not really seeing the need for him if we get Mutombo like we should. Plus we'll already have wahab and Igohoefe.

He is 6'9", so perhaps more of a PF in college. If he is good enough, take him. We just recruited a ton of guards and wings.

Ak Gak has got big time potential...great quickness, athleticism and range for his size... He would be an ideal fit at the 4. Completely underrated (around 175-200) I believe in most places. Really does everything you want from a 4.

Wow. I hadn't seen him before. That's not a kid who finishes outside the top 100.
Impressive hands/dexterity for somebody that big.

Why does this board dislike Malcolm so much? He will probably be our best rim protector next year.... Unless something changes, he's a 3rd string center - and it's not like we have Mourning & Mutombo in front of him. He's looking at spot minutes here and there, mostly when Q & Tim hit some foul trouble. I don't think anybody dislikes him. He's always been a raw kid with lots of potential, but very little polish. If he keeps at it (esp. w/ the redshirt year), he should be a producer before he's done -- even if only at the defensive end. But the fact that Tim I - not exactly a finished product himself - was ahead of him last year and probably this shows there's lots to work on.

Tim I played against Int'l competition. M. Wilson needs weight and time. we could use a power forward but we're set. Dont spend too much time counting stars!
