Can’t help but think how awesome next season would have been had Akinjo, McClung and LaBlanc had a common goal and no distractions.

Can’t help but think how awesome next season would have been had Akinjo, McClung and LaBlanc had a common goal and no distractions. That's why I'm personally way more excited about this class then I was about 2018. No egos! I'll miss LeBlanc! McClung was splashy but I won't miss him. If anything this 2020 class is the opposite of 2018, a very humble hard working class of talented players who have been overlooked so far in their basketball careers and also understand team basketball and personal sacrifice for team success. This might be my favorite Hoyas class since Porter, Whittington, Trawick, Adams, and Hopkins class of 2011. Another under the radar class with tremendous upside. If Adams doesn't have the heart condition and is forced to retire and Whittington takes care of his academics, their was a deep run, maybe final 4 their sophomore year.

My first GU “what if” was, what if Graham comes back for his Sophomore (and Senior) seasons. We win in ‘85 and at least a Final Four in ‘87.

Gene Smith started a Sunday weekly Instagram live show. Last week he interviewed Trey Dickerson but I missed it and still trying to find an archive of it. This week he interviewed Greg Malinowski. One of the things I found interesting was that Greg was trying to come closer to home and move up to a higher level of competition, so he reached out to Coach Waheed (who had recruited him out of high school) to help him transfer to GW. GW wasn’t interested so Coach Waheed introduced him to Coach Ewing. He also apparently lost about 10-15 pounds going into his senior year. www.instagram.com/tv/CAlC0enHC5q/?igshid=1nn5j5jkzou8iHere’s the recording of the interview between Govan and Dickerson. Or in the Tweet thread below there’s is a brief summary of the conversation. www.instagram.com/tv/CA3IfMOHAXl/?igshid=1bgvwd5h7t0vu

As far as I know, when Akinjo and McClung were rising high school seniors, we didn't know whether they'd have egos either. All I am saying is that it is hard to know how different guys will mesh together. Hopefully, well.

Fair point. I think we make the assumption that the 5 and 4 star recruits are most likely to have egos that might be divisive (plus maybe social media sensations?) but of course it can work both ways. Our best hope is that with more recruiting experience, Patrick develops a better sense of potential ego issues.

Does anyone know if the team members will be coming to Georgetown for summer school this year? When does that normally happen? Are they even having summer classes this year with the virus situation? I know there was discussion of some schools allowing athletes to come back to school and start training at the school facilities, but I have not heard anything about Georgetown's position on that. I am just wondering if the players are getting a chance to start working out together, especially the freshman and new transfers.

GU is running Summer classes remotely--the First session started Monday, although between pre-sessions and cross sessions, they've been running classes since May 18. Beyond that, I don't have any info.

I wonder if any of the players are actually on campus and if they have access to the facilities/gym to play and the weight room for strength training. There are 100 students living on campus through the summer. As I understand it, they are all students who really don't have a safe home to go to (like international students who cannot travel). I do not think the basketball players fall into that category.

I didn't want to derail the Holloway thread so I dropped this reply here... There are so many fans stuck in the past with their Nostalgic thoughts. It's not about getting back to what was in the past. And there isn't some formula to get there. It's about adapting to the modern landscape and and creating a new identity. That brand you all loved is dead. And there isn't some strategy to "Get kids that love Georgetown". We happen to be getting kids whose best option by far is Georgetown. That's not a good thing. They'd love some other bigger programs if they came calling. We have far too many kids who weren't desirable to P5 programs. It's frightening. It seems to me we are trying to dig out of the hole in the only way possible, since we are currently unable to recruit highly ranked players. So, we recruit from the next tier and hope that a few of them play well above their ranking, resulting in a successful year and an improved image. Then, we play again in the top tier. Apart from fretting over the current state of the program, do you have another idea about how to improve the team? Focus only on top recruits who are not interested in Georgetown at the moment? I believe they should change the staff for starters, the staff as currently constructed isn't very good at any facet right now. I'm not just talking about the assistant coaches, I'm including the support staff as well(outside of Crouch)... I also believe they need to bring in (or at minimum consult with) a basketball centric front office person to help Gtown rebuild & brand the program... As 95 pointed out Gtown needs a new direction/formula/identity...

JT2 coached GU for 27 years from ‘72-‘99. In 2026, his “shadow” (Esherick, JT2, Ewing) coaching career will equal that length. Time is flying by.

Interesting thread, I agree with a lot of what Freeman & Wright are saying...
