The response was to the implication that it is the sole, even a primary, reason for the discrepancy. I think there are a handful or two of factors that are more impactful before we even get to recruiting pitch. The way I see it, the recruiting pitches that carry the most influence are pretty proportional to how many minutes a coach guarantees to that player before they step on campus. Understood. That makes sense. I can get behind that. I think it depends on the player. Though, I do think it's a primary in almost every player, but that would just be arguing semantics. Agreed. And I know Pat isn’t in the business of guaranteeing minutes (could be wrong) and he willingly puts himself at a disadvantage in the short run, but I think that guaranteeing roles and minutes isn’t really the most responsible way to go about it (especially when it’s not sincere) because circumstances change and it can lead to disgruntled situations/players, not too unlike what our program just went through.

I hope the new shoes help with recruitment.

I'm not much of a sneakerhead but those look amazing. If anyone finds them for sale to the general public let me know, I'm sure it'll be a few months. Although I'm sure the retail price would take half of my stimulus check.

No problem there for me, maybe Jordan will give us jersey that only match these shoes...like blue and gray.

Those shoes look great. I too wouldn't mind retiring the teal jersey and sticking to the blue and gray.

I'll bite the bullet. This didn't shock me based on their criteria. If I made a list, I'd have Ewing higher, but based on their criteria I wasn't shocked. The Raw Performance category was hurt a lot by the defections and what was given to Ewing from the late JT3 days. Of all of the things listed, the Hoyas have one KenPom top 100 finish, and that was at #100 in the 2018-19 season. With a program that has relatively recent success and has done well in getting to the NCAA tournament as a good seed, that's going to hurt in comparative performance, too. I've given my more recent take on Ewing in this thread which has been received in many different ways. If he can't show us something to get excited for in the future, whether that's an elite recruit or excellent player development, or better results, I don't think the program is gaining anything. If this upcoming season is another under .500 season, there must be a really good reason or a really good recruiting class coming on in. Ewing motivated the team this year, and that's a positive for sure. I think his offensive sets are very good and really work at this level. But, Ewing's rotation early in the season was really bad and Ewing's poor substitutions are what cost us his and Jagan's first BET win. Ewing's defense seems to get worse every year and this season it has to show signs of improvement. Again, if these two things aren't improved it shows we have a coach that doesn't learn from his mistakes, so how's he going to help the team improve and learn from their mistakes? Great coaches rebound after making mistakes. Here's an example of an excellent coach rebounding: Jay Wright when his team lost to NC State in the tournament mentioned how he regretted not playing Phil Booth in clutch time, despite Booth not being a starter. He said that Booth was the hot hand and deserved to play in clutch time and that he made a mistake which he believed cost his team the game. In the National Championship game the next season, Booth got hot again and the game was close. Booth was not a starter, yet do you want to take a guess who was in the game in clutch time? It was Phil Booth. And they won that game. Coach Wright learned from his mistakes and is now a champion. I want Ewing to improve, I want Ewing to be the guy and I think he can be. But if he doesn't prove that, it's best for both Ewing and the program, that we move on. Sure, I might be called a fake fan for this, as I was last time I posted something similar to it. Sure, I'm going to be told that I should support Duke or a blue blood if I can't accept bad seasons, even though I'm still on this board, consistently talking Georgetown basketball after multiple bad seasons, and have been supporting way before I joined this board. But I feel this should be said, so I said it.

(74) Shaka Smart, Texas. (174) Dan Muller, Illinois State. (274) Patrick Ewing, Georgetown. Enough said!

(74) Shaka Smart, Texas. (174) Dan Muller, Illinois State. (274) Patrick Ewing, Georgetown. Enough said! It's a dubious list based on career numbers, not current performance, hence Dave Leitao is ahead of both Ewing and Steele and Mike Anderson is #2 within the Big East. And look who's #12, having never coached a game in the MAAC? The head coach at Iona.

Forbes a great coach — they are still alive for Brandon Murray.
