No Josh, James, or The Uncle? Believe it's because the article was written before the Josh/James transfer news of this week...

Def need to be working on the two grad transfers -
Mike Smith - Columbia, 47.6% 3pt. 4.7 assists. A shooter and distributor. Yes please!
Brendan Barry - Dartmouth, 44.5% 3 pt. 3.2 assists.

And if I can't, I have a great degree and I have so many connections. I'm already in New York City. (The NBA) is not the long-term goal. The long-term goal is just to be successful in life. I think, with a Columbia degree, I can do that. The short-term goal is to make it to the NBA or play overseas because I want to keep playing basketball. It's something I love to do." Sounds like Mike Smith has a good head on. Reminds me of Jon Wallace. Figure Pat could give him a solid pitch for a one year NBA audition.

The backcourt situation for next year might depend on what Pat can bring in. He's going to need at least 1 starting-caliber guard - that's a given. But what to do with Mac?
Mac is a scorer right now, but does he want to move to the point? Does he think that's his ticket to pro ball? Is Pat open to it?
Maybe Pat brings in a PG and Mac stays put. But I could easily see him handing Mac the lead/point guard duties if he brought in a shooter or more of a wing to play the 2 spot. Especially since, even if Pat brings in a Grad Xfer at the point for next year, he'd have to do it all over again in '21 - either with another Grad Xfer or a freshman PG.
I'm not saying that move wouldn't come w/o hesitation, but it would at least give Pat some flexibility if he strikes out on top PG options.

Mac is so much better on the wing. I prefer he not expend energy bringing the ball upcourt.

Agreed but I see where nyc is coming from. Even if Mac is thinking how to improve his handle with a vision towards the next level, not sure if coach would commit to him running the show during his 4th and likely make or break year.
Most likely scenario is get a ready to play PG like allen, mentor Harris and recruit like crazy for a stud PG to come in the next year.

Harris may need a little help but the team will need a second ball handler for sure, its a must that we get a backup!

IMO, the ideal situation would be a top level/older transfer like Mike Smith and another guard recruit. This would give you 5 guards on the roster next year (McClung, Blair, Harris, and the two newbies).
What do we know about Smith?

His stats show that he's taken a big jump in accuracy from deep this season... www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/columbia/2020.html

He's from my neck of the woods, western suburbs of Chicago. He would have gone to my high school but ended up going to Fenwick (catholic school where Corey Maggette is an alum). He is quick but not super quick and he can really shoot the ball. He had a great senior year and was catholic school poy. The knock on him was his size. He was maybe 5 ft 8 or 5 ft 9 his senior year. Absolutely destroyed Simeon in the IHSA playoffs. I haven't really watched him at Columbia other than to know he has done really well. He would be a great add.

Brendan Barry has deep Hoya roots. There’s not a program in the country that couldn’t use him.”

If he could shoot like DSR with some more point guard attributes then sign me up.

Still need a point guard in addition, but I hope staff takes a look.
