I know the program is in need of bodies, but bringing in two freshman point guards who really won’t be ready to play from day isn’t the smartest move they can make is it? Sort of like two C projects in the same class. eastcoastteddy58 Avatar Jan 20, 2020 at 3:38pm eastcoastteddy58 said: Have we offered Tyler Beard, if not what are we waiting on? Guess what, it happen last year and we made it to the NIT. News flash it'll probably happen next year as well so we might as well have two options, offer the kid and stop waiting for another Allen God sent transfer.

I don't know if Beard is a "point" in the traditional sense. If anything I seem him taking over Jagan's role on the team more than Allen's. He'd probably be solid as a secondary ball handler and on-ball defender, but getting others involved doesn't appear to be his elite trait by any means. Even with Beard in the mix I think we'd still need a traditional point for next year, regardless where they come from.

Vashon (Kobe Clark) plays Whitney Young (Tyler Beard) on Saturday night. Have to think we’ll be there.

He will get us to the 2021 season were PE and staff have already laid the ground work for new recruits. This four man/boy transfer put everything in a tailspin we need GOOD SERVICEABLE recruits. Yes we need bodies but not at the cost of giving away scholarships, hopefully the recruits were after we'll be able to build on and maybe we'll find a diamond is the rough.

So have we offered?? I say that because if you go to his 247 page there is an article attached to his profile that was posted yesterday discussing Gtown targets and that article clearly states we have offered...

Kobe Clark and Tyler Beard played each other tonight as was mentioned yesterday in a post. Since Ewing was in MN yesterday to see Kerwin Walton, Ewing was probably in town to see this game and offer Beard in person.

That would be fine with me. Not to mention, it is almost certain we could find another serviceable guard through the transfer portal.

QUINCY, Ill. — Kobe Clark parked himself at the end of the bench Friday night. A senior point forward for the Vashon boys basketball team, Clark had a forgettable first half and coach Tony Irons took him off the court to see what he could get from someone else. “I know I get on to him a lot because I have such high expectations for him,” Irons said. “I come down on him pretty hard sometimes. I have nothing but the utmost confidence in him.” Clark showed why as he scored all 12 of his points in the second half, including an and-1 poster dunk, to drive the nail into the coffin and help Vashon beat nationally ranked foe Sacramento Sheldon 67-56 in the finale of the Quincy Shootout at Quincy High. The Wolverines boarded a yellow bus late Friday night to make the trek back home. It was a happy ride in large part because Clark came alive. “Everybody on Vashon knows what Kobe can do. It’s exciting,” senior guard Phil Russell said. “I’m just happy for Kobe.” Clark scored a tough layup to put Vashon ahead 34-33 midway through the third quarter for his first bucket. The Wolverines would not trail the rest of the night. “I have a mode I can get into,” Clark said. After giving Vashon the lead, Clark went on a tear. He hit jumpers. His hands were active on defense. After a turnover, he raced the other way to block what appeared to be an easy transition layup. He was everywhere. “For the most part he’s the glue and he does what we need him to do. Whenever we’re in a lull, he can pick his spots to score,” Irons said. “Whenever we’re in trouble, he knows how to get us what we need to get into, so he does everything for us. When he’s aggressive and letting the game come to him, it makes it that much easier.” www.stltoday.com/sports/high-school/boys-basketball/clark-propels-vashon-s-second-half-surge-in-win-over/article_44870d78-3f33-11ea-a57a-07bbad747e47.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter_STLhssports

Sign me up.

Beard never visited the campus to my knowledge so unless he pulls an LJ Peak. This can't be good.

Have to think this is a good sign for the Hoyas. Seems like he might have been waiting for the official offer from Georgetown to make his final decision, which he got at the end of last week. He seems like a hard nosed versatile guard. Just the type of guy the program needs. Would be great to land him and start building some positive momentum!!!

We know he never took an official visit. But he's traveled all over the country during his high school and AAU seasons, so very possible that's he's visited at some point during those travels.
