Good showing for Tom Crean and Indiana, Crean has been on a hot for a couple seasons for under performing and he finally got a big NCAA win

Sort of related, listening to Charles talk about how great a coaching job Calipari did this year was freaking hilarious. I enjoyed it almost as much as I did watching Cal lose.

Calipari on the HOT SEAT. NO sweet 16 with the best team money can buy. Tsk tsk tsk.

Watching these games just makes me aware of how far we have to go in order to compete at this level. Sure we could sneak in like a Holy Cross or even a Syracuse but to make it to the sweet 16 we really need to improve at every position.

Not every team is elite like Virginia but i feel like we are lightyears away from playing defense similar to the top teams.

I look at some of the players on the other teams and think "so and so doesn't seem have players any more talented than our guys, or more skilled, or more upside but yet nonetheless they are clearly more effective on the court, more determined, more polished, more aggressive, more mentally tough." Outside a handful of programs I don't envy the talent of the players on these NCAA teams, I instead envy how they play up to their talents.

And if you look at where some of these teams were just a few years ago, it's clear how quickly things can change in college basketball from one season to the next.

Colorado had a good lead in the first half and squandered it. Tyrone Wallace is out for Cal. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Pac 12 is going to soil the tournament bed this year. I think it's a case of RPI numbers belying the quality of the conference. This is one of the few things I got right about this tournament. I also thought Duke would lose in the first round...

Talent levels seem broadly level this year, so the way teams mesh decides who goes farther.

Sadly (and unsurprisingly) PC getting the full Welcome to Tobacco Road treatment from the referees in the second half. That 4th foul called on Bentil was atrocious and the 5th wasn't close behind. Game over.

We need to pray that either Villanova or Xavier can pull through tomorrow

The UNC game was a disgrace. The Providence team with Dunn was just not going to be allowed on the court

The UNC game was a disgrace. The Providence team with Dunn was just not going to be allowed on the court It's a two-player team, and if those guys aren't allowed to play almost 40 minutes each, very vulnerable. Nice season for them, though, but things are always very fragile relying so heavily on just a couple of guys, especially if the refs seem to have a rooting interest.

The Hoyas have not won back to back games in the last tournament of the season in several years, Dr. Quigley is right in his concern for the team to be able to compete at a high level at that junction of the season.

I thought Seton Hall had a shot if they could have gotten their legs under them, but the late start and altitude looked like they took a toll on them - I would usually roll my eyes at stuff like that, but they really did look winded and out of sorts through most of that game.

Im not sure what about this tournament makes people think teams are so awesome. Gonzaga stunk all year. They didn't beat anyone. All the B12 and P12 teams are laying an egg, too, and every one loved them. What the tourney makes you realize is that it's a crap shoot about matchups, unless you have 8 McD all Americans. Even Kentucky got hosed because they could have played a much easier 2nd round game, but it just didn't happen. Im sure we'll hear from Calipari on that.
