It's mid February. The Big East needs teams to make the tournament at this point. Georgetown's resume is not strong enough. Seton Hall and Butler are on the bubble and need some wins. Still rooting for the Hoyas to make a run at MSG though. I'm confused. I hope you aren't implying that you hope we lose to Seton Hall and Butler to help their chances of making the tournament.

The old saying is that the only person who could keep Michael Jordan from scoring 30 points in a game was Dean Smith. I'm beginning to think that JT3 is the only person who can keep LJ Peak from scoring 20+ per game. Now that LJ has seemed to learn how to keep from fouling there is no reason to start Tre Campbell and sit LJ for the first 4 minutes of a game. Peak is averaging.46 points per minute played, Campbell,196. If JT3 continues to use DSR as a point guard then sit Campbell and let Peak play shooting guard/small forward. We have to give him 35+ minutes a game. You do realize that foul trouble is the only thing that prevents III from playing LJ 35 minutes a game. But you already knew that. His point was that's no longer a thing aka no longer the reason.

Forget whether he's fouling less or fouling more or what have you. He's playing better. Overall. Why mess with one of the few things that is working? Doesn't make any sense to me. And, not for nothing, as recently as the Butler game, his minutes were significantly reduced due to foul trouble. So, it's not like he's suddenly a foul-free player.

Seton Hall has a defensive drill called "tracing the ball." When they defend they mirror the offensive player's adjustments, tracing the movement in order to deflect the ball. When the Hall has 35 or more deflections in a game, they are 6 and 2 in conference play. They had 32 deflections against us in a 69 - 61 win on February 3rd. Kevin Willard learned this defensive technique from Rick Pitino, his mentor. Pitino is the master of disrupting shooter's rhythms. Beware Hoyas, this will be a tough defensive game. We need to speed up the offense, avoid deflections and stop our silly fouls. How many games have we lost, putting opponents on the free throw line? Go Hoyas. Take care of home court!!

The team I saw in the 2nd half on Saturday would beat SHU handily. Can the Hoyas bring that level of energy for 40 minutes? That really was the difference on Saturday, the pace and purpose of the team was simply better in the second half. Maybe with the pressure of an NCAA bid gone, the team will finally play loose and free.
Hopefully the second time around we do a better job on Delagdo. Hayes being out may actually help us since quicker players will take his place. I am not sure Mourning or Govan are strong enough yet to deal with Delgado, however, I think Marcus would be an interesting match-up. We just need to get a body on him and allow others to clean up the rebounding.
We definitely want to suck SHU into taking bad outside shots, especially Whitehead. You also must keep them out of the break, take care of the ball. I would not mind seeing pressure, they have no natural PG on the team.

III's comments on the links string are pretty interesting. Highlights include LJ apparently preferring coming off the bench, III's desire to push the ball and get transition baskets, and his thoughts on the constant fouling.

I'm pretty sure he managed to spell three out of the five recruits' names wrong.

pretty sure (read: unsure) we're gonna win tonight. this is it. if we lose this game, then we almost defffffinitely won't be getting into the dance based off regular season performance. would need to reach BET final, in my opinion. gotta win this tonight. i think we will.

3 straight home games against 3 good teams. Backs against the wall. If this doesn't motivate us to bring our A game, nothing will. I believe we will see a focused and energized Hoya squad keep our hopes alive tonight. Hoya Saxa.

No- I expect something akin to the behavior of Todd Parker in the robbery-gone-wrong scene from "Boogie Nights."

Waiting for the game to come on I feel like i'm heading to a wake. Nothing like some good old HoyaTalk optimism! In all seriousness, I won't see this game until Friday and will try to maintain a blackout on the result. If I can watch that and Xavier back-to-back and we can get 2 wins that'd be a nice start to the weekend.

The attendance at tonight's game is going to be embarrassing.
