DSRs distribution was the clear key to the first half run, and yet posters claim he's totally disinterested (never mind that those posters had nothing to say in 1st half). Then when the chorus of complaints hits peak ridiculousness, he ices the game. Makes it a little sweeter.
(And of course, those posters have disappeared.)

Pace pace pace.... once our pace on offense slowed our struggles started.... I thought Marquette also did a much better job on D in the second half, but we have to move the ball faster to set up drives and open shots, as in the first half. We just don't have as good passers as JT3 teams usually do (White out really hurts there), so running is going to be very important for this team.

Very good and important win. Agreed, the team has to beat the middle tier BE teams at home.. I'm very happy with this win..

Total clown show - DSR is a no-show and Cope has regressed by miles. I'm sorry, but 3 has no clue. This should have been a 30 point win. This makes no sense whatsoever. The same guys who were so sharp weren't in the second half, plus we essentially gifted them 10 points on easy breakways off turnovers. If anything, the fact that they played so well in the first half and less so in the second demonstrates its execution and the players that made the difference, not the coaching. A 10 point win is fine. Even Providence didn't beat St. John's by 30 and St. John's stinks.

Why bother to entertain this 2003? Let it go & enjoy the 2-0 BE start.. You're right. If anything, the win is very encouraging. It shows our offense can execute with precision, plus our defense was substantially better in this game. The turnovers and easy baskets will mask the fact that we actually defended quite well. And to Marquette's credit they actually made some shots that were well defended by our guys. In short, the problems that hurt us during the OOC were not here tonight, and we showed that if we can execute consistently, we could easily be a contender. It's a good win. We are 2-0, and need to keep it rolling in what will be a tough game at Creighton.

I thought it was also important because it might be a big boost to the confidence of guys like Govan and Derrickson. They are important players for us, and for them to come up so big on both ends of the floor is a good sign.

I thought that was quite possibly the best game I've seen DSR play as the true leader of this team. He was a true point guard in the first half attacking the lane and getting guys involved. I think that's what this team and past GTown teams have sorely been lacking. I absolutely love it and I think it's the way this team continues to get back on track. Then late in the game when he had to he came through in the clutch and took over in a major way. Not to mention he looked pretty engaged defensively. Big step forward for him today

Lot of pluses to take from that win, most importantly I would hope JT3 would look at himself and trust his players to press and run like they did in the first half instead of putting the brakes on and pretending that somehow bleeding the clock every possession for 20 minutes won't bite you in the a$$ eventually. That second half was brutal and it wasn't execution, it was absolutely perfect execution of a changed and terrible second half game plans.
Let em play coach, they should have proved to you they can do 40 if you'll let them.

Final Thoughts:
1. The first 2 gms of the Big East schedule is favorable for the Hoyas and they have taken advantage of it winning both gms by double-digits
2. Derrickson, DSR, Govan and Ike lead the way wtih 16, 15, and 11 pts respectively
3. The Center postion 19pts, 9 rebs, 5 blks, 1 assist (Hayes/govan)
Final Grade: B
The Hoyas are making hay at the right time.
This game could have been an "A", but the team blew a 19 point lead that cut down to 6pts before the Hoyas were able to secure a 10pt lead.
Onto Creighton, which is a game that the Hoyas should win to become 3-0 in the Big East..
Very favorable schedule for Gtown to start BE play
Onto Creighton

He didn't HAVE to score, he was helping us get a big lead in other ways. Then in the second half, he iced it -- very clutch game for him, and nice to see him not forcing it, as Marquette was overplaying him and he was making them play by moving the ball around.

I thought we did a great job of mixing in the jump shots with points in the paint until five minutes into the first half. Then we started to turn it over with poor entry passes and some poor jump shots at the end of the shot clock. Give Marquette some credit for stepping up their defense. I think we need to learn to stay aggressive and making hard cuts while also running down the shot clock.
The fast pace of the first half might have kept us laying hard on both ends.
We did what we needed to do in the last five minutes. So, I will be happy with a ten-point conference win.

Happy that DSR made my prior post look stupid. He woke up down the stretch and carried the win home. Need that the whole game.
Great Saturday start time too. Dinner in Penn Quarter afterward is great. Any chance these become a thing?

Totally impressed with the way DSR played today. Patience. Poise. Stepped up to seal the deal. Despite lack of scoring today, he led us to victory. That's not to take anything away from any of the other players. Derrickson and Govan are stars in the making.

In the first half, we had a lot of crispy sharp movement and passes. In the second, we didn't. It was execution.

Couldn't be that our consistent stream of sloppy turnovers hampered our offense, could it?

Also-thought the freshman class was OUTSTANDING today. Marcus was a man and stepped up against Ellenson in a major way. He showed more of his offensive arsenal today which is quite impressive even if he forced it a few times. Jessie grew up today on the defensive end. Fisher and Ellenson may be the best frontcourt we see all year and he more than held his own. That sequence of blocks was nothing short of awesome. Also continues to impress in the post and on the foul line. He's getting better and better. Kaleb reminded me so much of Bowen today in a good way. He was around every missed shot we had and if he didn't rebound it himself he got a finger on it to keep it alive. He needs to continue to see more minutes bc he has such a knack for that. Very, very impressed with this group

I've seen enough out of this team to believe we can start 5-0 in BE play, which hopefully gives us enough momentum to propel us to a home win over nova. Additionally, today shows how valuable it is to have DSR on our team. Lastly, there is much success awaiting kaleb, Marcus, and govan in the future.
PS I hope Paul is okay.

Might have been the most efficient game DSR has ever played in a Hoya uni. He needed that.
