Back in the day it was not difficult to hear Pops do his thing on the sideline, especially if the crowd wasn't big. One time he absolutely bulldozed Tillmon and Bryant at the end of a game in which they had a huge lead -- you could have heard it outside. Anyone have similar recollections?

Billy Martin's missed reverse dunk brought out quite the yell as I recall

Don't need to go much farther than Jerry Nichols' 360 slam against Morgan State. Immediate benching and sideline reaming by JT, Jr.
The other player who could never get out of the dog house was that short PG from the 1990s who loved to chuck it from deep. Was it Eric Myles?

I remember a game vs. Providence during a snowstorm that got moved from the Cap Center to a not full McDonough. In there, one could hear what he was yelling at the players as they struggled to beat what should have been an overmatched Friars team. He didn't hold back.

There was Eric Myles and Eric Micoud. Both stunk pretty badly. Eric Myles wasn't great, but Eric Micoud was a chucker who just couldn't shoot. He had to have shot around 25% from three for his career, and he wasn't afraid to pull the trigger, which is a terrible combination. I believe he left Georgetown to serve in the French military.

If I recall correctly, the game was against Seton Hall and Othella was getting worked in the paint. Pops called him over and clear as day and very emphatically told him, "Stop playing like a b*tch!!!".

It was a sweet 360 though! Nichols was a talented player who never really got in the groove...too bad.

True story when pops got mad at a fan not a player. When the Hoyas played in the Cap Centre I had season tickets 3 rows behind the bench. All those who had season tickets located there knew the "rule" not to yell coaching moves at pops, such as, "Put in X!" or yelling for a timeout. One game, a somewhat portly fan who was not a regular season ticket holder and obviously wasn't aware of the "rule" shouted something at pops. Pops whirled around and yelled back, "What do you know about the game you fat Edited!"

Very odd that someone who liked to shoot would join the FRENCH military....

How does someone accidentally do a 360 dunk? I get what he means, but it sounds like a funny defense.

He was part of that vaunted recruiting class that included Iverson, Jerome Williams, Jahidi White, Boubacar Aw, and Jerry Nichols.

Myles and Edwards were both 5'10 PGs. Maybe.
Eric Myles did arrive the same year as AI and also stayed two years. He shot 40% from three as a frosh, got about 9 mins/game. As a soph -- after the arrival of Victor Page, he barely played then transferred out.
David Edwards was from NYC. He averaged 41 ppg at Jackson HS in Queens. He played one year at GU, '89/'90. He could be described as AI before AI. OK, not THAT good, but similar game. Quick, fast, fearless, a little undisciplined or a major talented freelancer, depending on your POV. He shot 36% from Three and averaged nearly 5 Assists per game, and 5.4 PPG. He was never a starter, but he did average 20 mpg his one year - as a freshman. I really liked him. But JT didn't appreciate his game. He transferred to Texas A&M and had quite a career there. At the time he graduated he was one of 7 guys in NCAA history to have 1200 points, 650 assists, 250 steals & 400 rebounds.
Eric Micoud, 6'1, was born in France and played two years at GU. As a frosh he started 8 games and averaged about 17 mpg. The next year he averaged half as many minutes. He shot treys at 31% year 1, and 27% year 2. Micoud was a serviceable but not outstanding member of the team. His move to the French Foreign Legion happened very late in the school year, maybe early summer. And, as it happened, it conveniently opened up a roster spot for a very late Hoya signee - Allen Iverson, who had to use his get out of jail free card, then manage to get his HS diploma outside of normal school classrooms. To his credit, AI did. He showed up at Kenner in July and blew everyone's minds. You know the rest.

Edwards' dribbling display against Carolina in the inaugural Big East/ACC challenge is one of the great, albeit anomalous, moments in GU history under Big John.

So did Micoud actually join the French Foreign Legion? I always thought that was a joke about how he mysteriously disappeared just in time for Iverson to come in.

So did Micoud actually join the French Foreign Legion? I always thought that was a joke about how he mysteriously disappeared just in time for Iverson to come in. "Four months earlier, Allen Iverson had signed a letter of intent to play at Georgetown following the conclusion of his clemency agreement with the commonwealth of Virginia, which the school only announced after guard Eric Micoud left the team to complete military obligations in his native country of France (leading one Washington Post writer to joke that Thompson had sent one of his players to the French Foreign Legion.)" www.hoyasaxa.com/sports/archives/archive0814.htm#3
