The problem is these writers - half of whom probably don't have any detailed knowledge about Georgetown specifically - will see the three losses and automatically put us out of contention. This is where the Radford loss hurts - without it, are we really any worse than Vanderbilt or Gonzaga? I don't think so.
Villanova being 9th in the AP poll is also a bit low given how good they have been. I hope they crush Oklahoma tonight.

Of course, that conference had 16 teams and this one has 10!

Currently 27th in KenPom, third in the Big East (Nova 1, Xavier 11, Butler right behind us at 28), while the Fighting Hopkinses are 38th.

We lost to Radford at home. We don't deserve to be ranked. Keep winning.

Not surprised at NR, we currently don't have a win over a current top 25 team. Of course Cuse and Wisconsin are good teams too. This early teams are moving based on performance relative to ranking as well as actual performance so takes time to shake out.
It could be a while until we are ranked on that logic, I don't think we get a crack at a ranked opponent until Jan 16th (Nova) so its important to win these "easier" games. Would not shock me if we by then are favored against a top 10 team but are unranked ourselves, if we play well and continue a good trajectory.
I do think enough happens to lower teams we pick up votes each week anyway.
Just saw we play Uconn later during BE season, gonna be a lot of opportunities for resume building starting mid January.

Luckily, our team is in a sport where ultimately the ranking doesn't matter for the post-season. In football, it's another story. Keep in mind we are also seeing the affect of the pre-season rankings. For example, Vanderbilt's record is no better than ours aside from Radford, yet they're ranked and we aren't. Sure, Radford is a big reason for that, but Vanderbilt also began the season in the top 25 and we did not AND we have three losses.
Like I said, I bet a substantial number of voters don't even know we lost to Radford. They just see 3 in the L column.

Also, Jay Bilas mentioned vis a vis Kentucky there is no great team this year, and "being very good is good enough". I feel that way about all these teams this year...at this point the top 30 or so teams are much more even than ever, with the biggest talents on inconsistent teams (Jaylen/Simmons) or less deep teams than previous years (Skal), or teams that otherwise dont have stars (Ellenson).
I think are a "very good" team, or will be, and I think we have a great shot to make it to/past sweet 16 with the additional depth and versatility. I think a strong BE and the focus/big games we got after Radford helps us. Butler and Xavier are some of the deepest teams in BBAll now and will provide great games. Monmouth and Providence helps us see a dynamic PG like the type that usually drive successful NCAA teams. We see how to deal with a premier big man like Ellenson, a shot blocker like Brimbah. We get everything in Nova. More than anything else, JT has had some hot hands in every game, and this will be useful come tournament time.

I thought that we would be ranked today but I guess I understand why we aren't ranked. The beauty of not being ranked today is that now I won't be looking to be ranked until January. If beating Cuse and Wiscy and playing Duke and MD close doesn't impress them then beating Brown, UNCW, Monmouth, UNCAshe, Charlotte and DePaul won't move the needle. We need to beat everyone on the schedule going into the Nova game. If we do that and then beat Nova at home we will be ranked just in time to lose to Xavier and then be unranked again.............

No problem!

It would be nice if UCon is back to top 25 status by 1/23.

At least we are head of the (ex)cuse in Sagarin's ratings: 34 to 48.

I figured we wouldn't be ranked, but I thought we'd get more votes.

Brown coach was right: this team is three possessions away from being 8-0. Based on what we're seeing, the trajectory is good. Keep winning and the accolades will come. I'd rather struggle in November/December and enter March hungry than the other way around (as we've unfortunately seen in past seasons). Not worried about not getting national recognition at this point. Voters have 350+ teams to watch, saw us start 1-3 the way we did, and probably haven't looked very closely since then.
