We have to play a very disciplined game and value each possession like it's our last. Cannot afford turnovers. 10-12 turnovers against Wisconsin is like 18-20 turnovers against a fast-paced team.
Each possession counts and we should be hyper focused on getting a good shot within the offensive flow each and every time down in the half-court. If we can do that, we have a real good shot because I think we are deeper (assuming White and Campbell are ready) and a little longer/more athletic than Wisconsin, both of which should help us get a handful of easy buckets throughout the game.

Wisconsin was significantly overrated pre-season. Nigel Hayes can play, but he's going to have a tough time replicating his success from year. He benefited tremendously from playing with Dekker and Kaminsky. Koenig can shoot, and he's tall, but he's slow and I've gotta think we can bother him. I'm also curious to see what the shorter shot clock does to them - Wisconsin may be the one team that is affected as much as we are by that change.

We should look to push too. Against Radford I remember a couple of moments when we didn't push and had the chance. Gotta take advantage of that against Wisconsin.

Can we please be ready to have a fail-safe inbounds play?

For the PG lovers out there, pls check the pre-2K JT3 interview posted by Dan. That should end the discussion (if there was one) of what JT3 thinks.

I don't think its a coincidence that the two top scorers for MD and Radford were guards. While true that those are both teams respective best players, it continues a theme from the previous season. It's likely that Wisconsin will attempt a similar game plan. If I was Ryan...whomever is guarded by DSR should try to penetrate or force him to fight through a number of screens and then drive. With Campbell unavailable, there is even more incentive for this approach. Perhaps the Hoyas will show more zone than usual to protect him.
I think this will be a great game.

Going to the game tonight and will be cheering loudly for the Hoyas. While I was encouraged by a lot of things in the Maryland game, we still need to find a way to get stops in the closing minutes. Too many blown leads down the stretch over the last few years. To me, LJ is the player who can change our fortunes by being the lockdown defender he can be, but we haven't seen enough of so far. Given the way our team is currently comprised, he's the guy that needs to be able to stop the Trimbles of the world from getting into the lane at will or getting the ball with enough space to shoot. Similarly, he is our best (and perhaps only) hope to contain any unconscious guard like Radford's Rashun Davis (at least until Tre is able to translate his obvous quickness into actual good defensive play and not just potential).
Go Hoyas.

Guard play is also key in the tourney. Hoping Peak can be a lock down guy on guards or maybe Johnson.

Nigel Hayes is good but the whole key to their team this year is Native American superstar Bronson Keoning with the off the charts athleticism. If we can shut him down then they will fall apart.
After those two there is a significant dropoff in talent.

There is a possibility that our game could be delayed / start on another network again, as there is live tennis immediately preceding. It's a 3 set match, but only 2 hours are allotted. A match earlier today that was three sets went 2 hours, 37 minutes. ESPNU has live basketball, so I am assuming it'll be ESPN News again, if necessary.

Anyone out there want to keep complaining about having Big East games on Fox Sports?

I think this is the most important game of the OOC schedule for a couple of reason. Wisconsin is not great this year so if we lose it will not be a oh well they lost to a good team kind of thing at the end of the year. More importantly if we lose we likely play VCU and that is an awful matchup for us right now without Tre. Starting the season 0-4 could lead to some serious doubt on this team. Not saying we still couldnt make the tourney but a loss to Wisconsin and VCU is not going to look pretty if we are on the bubble.
