We've gone from one of the most iconic programs in college basketball to getting blown out in our own gym by a Sun Belt team in front of a crowd that is probably less than the number of people in the cafeteria right now. That anyone can defend this product is beyond me. It's time to pull the plug. Period.

I would assume we can all agree that blowing a 6-point lead, at home, with 30 seconds to go qualifies as underachieving. Actually, no one would agree with that. No one uses "underachieving" in the context of 30 seconds of one game, or even one game. Wow. Interesting world you live in.

The truth is that Georgetown, especially in a non-BCS conference, is not positioned to attract a different marquee coach. We're basically both lucky to have him, and stuck with him. It is what it is. This is the oldest lamest excuse that we come up with. It's a $3m a year job in a major basketball conference. The BCS thing is overrated. That fear that everyone lives in doesn't work.

Our results have changed drastically from when I made that comment, though it does go to show that I haven't been a "fire JT3" guy until it got untenable. Since then Villanova proved the conference can support a national champion, we had our worst season by winning % since the early 1970's, and now we just lost at home to one of the worst teams in the country. I'm not a zealot. I'm about results. The results at this point are clear; deleted

He looks worried on the sideline. Not sure of himself, as in previous years.
I think he feels the pressure. Not from administration, but himself and trying to get the program to where it could be.
He has at least 2 years, unless he totally bombs out this year.

Put us all out of our misery.
Can we call this one of the worst losses in school history? Anybody gonna get defensive about that? Honestly, who cares? The truth is they all blend together at this point.
The anger state is just about over. All that's left is sadness and boredom.

Give props to Arky St. They earned the win. They looked better than Maryland did against us, quite honestly. Suck it up and get ready for Oregon. Go Hoyas!

I hate to shed Syracuse in a good light, but they were not very good last year, yet they found a way into the final four. Not having Derrickson and Hayes is huge and we will be a lot better with them on the court.

We were not very good last year and found our way to a losing record.....just like we have now and will have for a good number of games now, if not the season. Hayes will help, but this team shouldn't need Hayes to beat teams like this, nor to close out Maryland.

Now if it looks like this at the end of the year, then folks have a right to gripe. But it is way too early to start panicking right now.

It's absurd that "fire the coach" is a banned opinion on this board, at this point. The biggest Hoyas blog is explicitly calling for it. Our own students are chanting for it. It is impossible to have a serious discussion about this program if we can't express the opinion that JT3 must be fired. Nobody is calling to rescind scholarships from college kids or anything like that. We're discussing the job performance of a 10 year employee who is paid millions of dollars a year, and giving our evaluation. This is not a board to discuss Georgetown basketball if we can't discuss this.
You may say there are other platforms to discuss this on, and that's true, and many of us are there. But this is going to be an article in the Hoya. It's a 100% mainstream stance. And I wish it could be expressed on a board called Hoyatalk that I've been a part of for the better part of a decade.

Why has there been a JTIII on the hot seat thread for 133 pages and now we are cracking down on the dismissal of the coach commentary? Only because the tides have turned on him and it's actually now serious?

He has at least 2 years, unless he totally bombs out this year. Why do we think he has at least two years? I think he deserves the rest of this year but anything short of a (now) NCAA appearance and I think he should be fired. I agree it's unlikely that would happen but I think that would be more than fair. I'm sad more than anything. Go

The board rules have been in existence for years, it's nothing new. Discussion isn't off limits.
