Are we really underachieving with our personnel? Jay Wright is really the best example as to not give up hope. They went through a drought before winning it all last year. Early NCAA exits after having great seasons. Labeled as chokers. Even had a losing season back in 2011-2012. I do not think that Jay Wright is an accurate comparison... Villanova is ranked # 3 in the country, has been to 2 Final Fours, and are the defending National Champions with all of this occurring since the last time the Hoyas have won back to back games in the NIT's or NCAA's. Based on those accolades Jay Wright is a superior coach. It would appear that you missed the context - yes, Jay Wright is hot right now, but, when he wasn't (i.e. 11-12 when they were 13-19), they stuck with him and he got the program back on track.

Are we really underachieving with our personnel? We are what we are. Just have to recruit better. III has tried everything for several years. Changing assistants, now opening up the offense. You can't say he hasn't tried to improve. Jay Wright is really the best example as to not give up hope. They went through a drought before winning it all last year. Not much shame in losing to Uconn & NC State as a high seed..

True that Jay Wright went 13-19 but since then has proceeded to reel off 4 straight NCAA's, a Final Four and National Championship. Now if this type of luck rubs off on JTIII then more power to him but as of right now he has missed the NCAA's 2 out of 3 seasons.

I would probably use the same "going to the NBA" negotiation tool JT2 used back in the day.

So let's remove the hot seat discussion. How many talented players on the same team can you have losing games before we can say this is just a bad coach? A nice guy, a tremendous ambassador for the university and someone we would all want to be associated with but just not a good coach. Bingo. Perfectly said. Great ambassador; marginal coach. I don't think you know what "marginal" means.

It is really difficult to not give JT3 some slack at least for a dozen games or so due to the rather severe system change. Yes, the bulk of the team has some experience under its belt, but at least give him credit for trying. I have been one of his most outspoken detractors but am heartened by his realization that there is/was a serious strategic flaw in his approach.
We are already attracting better players, and the type of player required to compete in the postseason. Like many if not most, I see many of the same flags on the field. But let it play out. He's not going anywhere unless he resigns.

Derrickson is getting limited time because of his knee injury. If he was 100% healthy I would agree that he should be in there a lot more.

I understand that this board has rules about this, and in normal times, I think those rules are good and proper. But this isn't normal times, and I'm confident my view aligns with many if not most of the fanbase that still bothers to follow this program.
You come out flat in your own gym against a terrible Arkansas state after that Maryland loss? That's not a team that cares and that starts and ends with the head coach. This is a veteran team of largely top 100 recruits. There are no more excuses. How many more utter embarrassments do we need to endure for the apologists to see reason? We're at the point where it's just absurd. Radford, UNC Asheville, 15-18, losing to DePaul in the BET, not lasting a weekend in the dance for a decade, Ohio, Florida Gulf Coast, it goes on and on.
This is big budget college athletics and there must be expectations that come with that in terms of results. Those expectations have not been met for many years now, and lately they don't even seem achievable. This is a program with great history, a brand new practice facility, in a major city, that pays a big salary with a solid TV deal. We can and must do better.
It's time for a new coach.
