I knew this would pop up after our first loss. So we can have another 131 pages of silly arguments and back and forth. People want JT3 to adjust. He does and it's still not enough.
I get it. Our loss tonight hurts from the fan perspective. But he's not getting fired in season so this is really just a place for people to complain and whine and repeat the same arguments ad nauseum.
I'm not super optimistic myself about the season but I also recognize it's silly to be making grand conclusions after two games.

He's not on the hot seat ...we are a team in transition. These guys are learning how to play with each other, learning a new style of play, and figuring out who our go to guy is at the end of games. Brutal loss....but let's get off this hot seat discussion because it will never happen and isn't relevant.

How many talented players on the same team can you have losing games before we can say this is just a bad coach? A nice guy, a tremendous ambassador for the university and someone we would all want to be associated with but just not a good coach.

Waters will make coach look good. It's the piece we are missing which Maryland has.

that was plain stupid how they blew that game .why not call a timeout and settle the team down. and after they commited that foul giving maryland 2 shots,he should called another to to make sure everyone knows not to do it again .where is the leadership at.another nit.underachieving team with a bad coach.

Well if nothing else, from a quick perusal of some post-game threads, you're likely to earn plaudits from some Hoyatalk circles for your concerted effort to not use caps lock.

Be aware that had he called that timeout, he wouldn't have had a time out to plan for the final possession.

This is an improvement. 2 games in. Last year it only took 1 game for the villagers to grab their torches and pitchforks.

Majority of the fan base seemed to agree this team needed style changes. The attempt to make those changes are evident. This isn't an overnight transition, the team hasn't figured out the balance between aggression and out of control yet. Last night was obviously a major collapse and letdown for us fans but I think there were a lot of things this team can learn from and get better from moving forward. I still think this team makes the tourney this year and to me that's the goal.

Are we really underachieving with our personnel?
We are what we are.
Just have to recruit better.
III has tried everything for several years. Changing assistants, now opening up the offense.
You can't say he hasn't tried to improve.
Jay Wright is really the best example as to not give up hope.
They went through a drought before winning it all last year. Early NCAA exits after having great seasons. Labeled as chokers. Even had a losing season back in 2011-2012.
Don't give up. It has only been two games.
III isn't going anywhere.

I would've been agreeable to a change at the end of last season, but that's not the direction we went. Now, I think we have to give it more than two games to get a fair sense of what we have. It's clear we have made coaching adjustments. The offense is different, the foul disparity is way down, the defense is more of a press. Frankly, I already see improvement from last year in key phases.
Unlike some on this board, I don't think change should be essentially off the table. But I'm not sure it's really fair to the coaches or the team to basically suggest that the regime is a failure just two games in. The administration gave them another season, and I want to support them as best I can.

I think we might want to base decisions about the future of the program on more than 90 seconds of awful play. Last night was rough, especially being in the arena with all the Terp fans celebrating. But the other 78:30 of playing time through the first two games was pretty encouraging.

Another year.......same discussion. Out of curiosity, do you post about anything other than JT3? I only ask because, if you don't, I'd find that really fascinating in a very odd sort of way.

I do not think that Jay Wright is an accurate comparison... Villanova is ranked # 3 in the country, has been to 2 Final Fours, and are the defending National Champions with all of this occurring since the last time the Hoyas have won back to back games in the NIT's or NCAA's. Based on those accolades Jay Wright is a superior coach.
