Decent analysis. Not completely accurate but this guy does his homework and has a good knowledge of all the teams. www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/comments/3i1vc5/terkers_top_25_previews_22_georgetown_hoyas/The previous previews#23 - Cincinnati Bearcats #24 - Baylor Bears #25 - Wisconsin Badgers #26 - California Golden Bears #27 - NC State Wolfpack #28 - Dayton Flyers #29 - Texas A&M Aggies #30 - San Diego St Aztecs #31 - Oregon Ducks #32 - Texas Longhorns #33 - Xavier Musketeers #34 - Boise St Broncos #35 - UCLA Bruins #36 - Notre Dame Fighting Irish #37 - LSU Tigers #38 - Florida St Seminoles #39 - Rhode Island Rams #40 - Syracuse Orange #41 - Virginia Commonwealth Rams #42 - Vanderbilt Commodores #43 - West Virginia Mountaineers #44 - Valparaiso Crusaders #45 - Pittsburgh Panthers #46 - George Washington Colonials #47 - Old Dominion Monarchs #48 - BYU Cougars #49 - Georgia Bulldogs #50 - Richmond Spiders

Not bad. I think jury is really out on 5th starting spot - certainly Derrickson makes some sense, but that is not a 5 that would make you feel completely comfortable against a rabid press.
I'm guessing outside of the big three (DSR, Cope and Peak), you're going to see quite a lot of early season experimentation with Govan, Derrickson, White, Campbell and potentially Johnson and eventually Agau. In spite of their Italy numbers, I'm predicting very little burn for Cameron, Mourning and Hayes.

I'm always amazed that, year after year, people are so concerned about the squad being able to handle wave after wave of "rabid" pressing that teams are going to throw at us. Please tell me, is our schedule really full of teams coached by Nolan Richardson disciples? It's the same phenomenon as people being overly concerned about whether we will have sufficient big men on defense, as if our schedule is loaded with teams that have multiple [skilled] 7-footers.

Paul's going to start, I don't think there's much of a debate on this internally. A lot of our success this season will be determined by how well he plays this year tbh.. We have a lot of players that can make individual plays but not so many that are adept at creating for others, especially on the perimeter.
Plenty of minutes to go around for everyone worthy

Don't get your Jimmy rustled KC. Must have missed the part where I was "so concerned" about anything or predicting a legion of pressing teams. Just would prob rather have Tre on floor with DSR against teams that tend to crank up the D pressure. We certainly didn't have much more in the way of ball handling last season, and we were fine. I'm ready to see all sorts of combos.

Plenty of minutes to go around for everyone worthy Yeah I don't think there is any doubt that PW starts. He is the most versatile player on the roster. I actually expect him to average around 10 PPG, 6 RPG, 3 APG, 2 SPG, 1 BPG while shooting around 46% FGA and 37-41% 3FGA. The way the roster is built, if the team shows patience and moves the ball, there will be good looks available. PW is what you consider a 5 tool player (baseball reference) meaning he does a little a bit of everything well. He will be an added ball handler/initiator of offense on the court with DSR and Peak. I'm happy that Derrickson played very well on the Italy trip and I think he will be a huge plus this season and a sensational Hoya going forward but he is not as versatile as PW and all freshman struggle defensively in JT3 system. As it looks like Govan will start, I am not in favor of starting 2 freshman on the interior as the backbone of your defense. That being said, I am sure Derrickson will play close 20 MPG. I can't understand why people are clamoring for Tre to start alongside DSR & Peak. For the second year in a row, we are going to have one of the biggest teams in the country with 9 players of 6'7" and up, and yet their are people who want to minimize our size by starting 3 players under 6'6". I can understand if the size was limited skill wise but that is no way near the case as JT3 has potentially the most skilled team during his tenure. Tre and DSR will be on the court together at times I'm sure but no way should Tre start. This team has take advantage of it's versatility. That's our strength!

A lot can change from now till November ....but as of Italy, I think the 5 are ....DSR, LJP, Copeland, Derrickson and Govan. I say this in part because he started the last game versus the Swiss with his 2nd unit....Campbell, Johnson, White, Mourning and Cameron. Derrickson subbed in with LJ and Isaac. White however was on the court at the end of the game (as was Derrickson), I suppose that's all that matters.

Jeff Green's averages in his BEPOY season in 2006-07--on a team that in conference play had nine guys play 5+ MPG (rounding up with Tyler Crawford)--were: 14.3 PPG, 6.4 RPB, 3.2APG, less than 1 SPG, barely over 1BPG, 51.3% FGA, 37.5% 3FGA

I stopped reading after seeing Tre in the starting 5. Yes, it could happen, but low probability...

I stopped reading after seeing Tre in the starting 5. Yes, it could happen, but low probability... It's a pretty useless preview for Hoya fans, as all these are. But the guy does his homework in general and writes in the article that it will likely be Tre or Paul White. These things are good for reading about other teams -- you're never going to learn anything new about YOUR team.

I can't get excited about pre-season pols, the year we went to the final four, we weren't in the top 25 pre-season. The real poll is on selection Sunday and what seed we get.

If you're going to take that stance, the only real poll is the one on April 5. All that matters is what you're ranked at the end of the year...right...

I can't get excited about pre-season pols, the year we went to the final four, we weren't in the top 25 pre-season. I don't think that was the case. The team was coming off a season in which it had gone to the Sweet 16 and was returning all the key players, including Green and Hibbert who had become known commodities. The team was also I believe bringing in highly regarded recruits like Vernon Macklin and DaJuan Summers. I'm sure in every poll Gtown must have been a pre-season Top 25 team. Maybe not high Top 25 but Top 25 regardless.

After seeing the guys initaly i wouldNOT be surprised if Trey started at the five he dominated most play including holding his own against a 7'2 guy yup STRONGER QUICKER beefier and hustled like crazy led defensive comebacks all the time he is the son of the father. MUCH IMPROVED folks we will see.

Count me as completely shocked if Trey starts at the 5 this season (assuming a healthy Govan and Hayes and second semester eligible Akoy).
