great job by the seniors. they really carried the team today. tre played awesome. I really like what he brings defensively with his quickness. Copeland, white and peak need to pick up their game especially defensively and on the glass. white and Copeland are clueless on the back end of the zone. white has 1 rebound in his last 24 minutes and peak has 1 rebound his last 35 minutes. that is unacceptable.

I saw that Adam Kilgore of WaPo tweeted that Thompson said his knee was "weak" in practice but DSR should be good to go on Thursday. Fingers crossed! All in all, really proud of our seniors today. They played really hard for 40 minutes, and it's great to head into New York with a hard fought win like that under our belts.

What does a "weak knee" mean? How does one strengthen said knee in a week?

There's something odd afoot. Recent tweet from Dsr that he's not injured and the near game time decision for him not to play really raises an eyebrow. I don't know that I'm buying the injury. Late for bus maybe?

Late for bus maybe? If Thompson sat DSR because he was late for the bus or something equally as trivial on senior day when we were fighting for a 3 seed, he has lost his mind.

If III sat DSR for a reason he couldn't or didn't want to disclose he would have simply resorted to his tactic of providing no explanation for his decision. Some of you are looking for a controversy it seems.

Plus/minus numbers for today's game, calculated from the play-by-play at guhoyas.com:
Trawick +18, Smith +15, Campbell +7, Bowen +6, Adams +2, Copeland +1, White even, Peak -2, Cameron -6, Hopkins -11.

I think he's probably just distinguishing between an injury with long term implications and simply being sore/stiff and risking an injury.

At the Press Conference after the Butler game, noticed that DSR had an ice pack on each knee. Do not know if that was significant, but wanted to point it out. In any case, a great win for the Hoyas with our leader out. Sometimes the Lord works in strange ways; this win only makes the team stronger and more united. When I first saw that DSR was in a suit, I panicked, but as the game unfolded, I saw the team pull together. Led by Bril they got the job done. Not always pretty, but we'll take it. Happy for all the Seniors and a great moment for Tyler. Looking forward to BE tournament on Thursday. GO HOYAS!!

Really does it get any better than this on Senior Day? Adams gets an opportunity to go out with a uniform on and in the box score. Meanwhile, the seniors truly lead the team to a #2 seed-clinching victory with DSR on the bench. Credit also to Campbell who had a great game.
Looking forward to the BET, but very excited for the seniors on the way this day unfolded. This should be a great memory for each of them for years to come.

I thought it was a workmanlike win. Jabril, as noted by others played very well, and I thought Aaron did too (he didn't make all his shots, but I thought they all were appropriate ones). Josh wasn't at his best but still demanded attention. Tre was very solid -- and that could have been a big, big problem in this one.
Praying that DSR really is OK.
One final note on the Tyler situation: I really do think it's unfortunate we didn't return the basket. According to Willard, he approached JTIII before the game about trading hoops and JTIII declined. And I completely get that: I can understand thinking that the whole "get the injured player a hoop" thing is a bit goofy, and if I were Tyler, I'd want to actually play against real competition for a possession. So, no problem there. But Willard decides, on his own, to let Tyler score. Hey, that's his call, and good for him. Now, he had to have known there was no guarantee to get a basket back given the conversation with III, and of course they scored anyway, so it wasn't necessarily a competitive disadvantage. But, at that point, Coach really should have reciprocated. That was the obvious and most sportsmanlike move given the situation. Don't mean to rain on what is a wonderful story and gesture -- both Willard and III are to be commended and given the context, I don't think it was the worst decision in the world -- I just wish we'd completed the sequence.

Agree. It would have been the classy response.

Really does it get any better than this on Senior Day? I mean, yes.... ...but this was nice too! It's nice to have a game that was fun, feel-good, and had positive implications for the BET. (EDIT: Also, today turned out to be our highest home attendance of the season, narrowly beating out the Butler and Kansas games. It also bumped the attendance average for home BE games back over last year's final total--we were +297 this year.)

Well that article is a bit ridiculous. Trying to make the point III, the guy who set this whole thing in motion, of all people doesn't understand that basketball is more about winning. While I agree that we should have reciprocated, III gave Willard a ton of praise and appreciation in his post game interview so I am going to let it go. Especially since they got an easy lay-up on the following play anyways and we had to give up foul or time-out. Both of which are probably worth a point or two.

If seton hall wants to complain about that, it's hard to deny them. Miscommunication or not, it was really odd and should have been handled better by our side. A small blemish on an otherwise outstanding day, but still. They have a point.
