Michigan definitely looks off - if you go to their hoops webiste mgoblue.com (I'm guessing their equivalent of guhoyas), we're not there, though their OoC looks complete.. curious to see who we get instead..

If Michigain is out does that mean that they will be replaced by another Big 10 team or can we scedule whomever we want?

The Big Ten released their conference schedule today, and some of the schools released their non-conference scheds. Michigan's sched is out--we're not on it. Illinois has not released their sched.

Ok so that leaves us with 2 (and possibly 3) OOC games yet to be released. I still think Howard is one of those games. Who else could we be playing?

Unfortunately, we are probably playing some weaker squads. Not a lot of big games to be had at this point.

It won't happen. What will happen is that ESPN will make reference to some school or coach playing a lightweight schedule with a snide reference to a Hoya-like schedule. We've become part of a cliche--there was a story in the Pittsburgh papers last year making reference to Walt Harris (the then Pitt FOOTBALL coach) playing a Hoya like OOC schedule--and its easier for the ESPN clowns to rehash the same old lame joke then actually do some research. I think the days of the "Hoya-like easy schedule" joke are over. Even Andy Katz gave us credit last year after we won against ND at home, saying that we played a tougher schedule and seemed like a tourney team. A rough paraphrase here but on ESPN College Gameday he said that we played Illinois as well as the Rainbow Classic, not just St. Leo's. With this year's OOC schedule looking even better than last year's (even without Michigan now), there's nothing for them to make fun of anymore. It'll be interesting to see who replaces Michigan. Perhaps this can be a home game now instead of away... although I'm not expecting anyone specatcular.

Anyone know why the Michigan game fell off the schedule? Amaker afraid to play more Big East foes?

It could also be possible that the expansion of the Big East into the Midwest caused many Big 10 schools to rethink who they scedueled in the Big East when presented with more attractive rivalry matchups with Notre Dame, Marquette, Cincy, Depaul, and Louisville (although they're really in SEC country).

yeah, it really dont matter too much about the loss of Michigan. I think we have one of the top 15 OOC schedules out there, and top 10 total schedules out their in the entire country. I would think we could be getting 2 more homes games, possibly even 3. It would be great to see George Washington on the sched this year, or somewhere out in Cali since our first one got cancelled. I wana see us play UCLA again since they are up at the tops again and we still got BB and Ashanti who might want a little homecoming before graduating.

I definitely would love to see something else for a longer West Coast trip say between Oregon and Fairfield - wouldn't mind the day we see two GU, blue and gray, Jesuit schools with bullgod mascots match up (and yes, I think it would be good to play at a quality mid-major like we're doing with UTEP, particularly if a win would qualify as an away victory). That said, maybe another PAC-10 schools could use a match - say Stanford just for the academic hell of it.

As an Ann Arbor resident and big Hoya fan, I'm sorely disappointed the Michigan-GU game isn't going to happen. It was ridiculously exciting for me when I saw that game listed earlier. And this sucks. Hopefully the Hoyas get another good game, but even better would be if Michigan and GU were actually able to face eachother. Nevertheless, I look forward to the Hoyas' season.

Stetson, at home, Dec 17.
With a 255 RPI, this is exactly the type of team we shouldn't be playing, but I have a feeling this was a last second fill-in.
