Nothing spectacular about what he added at Umass as a frosh.outstanding A/T ratio other than that statistically he may have under-performed on a top 60 ranking. If we are looking to fill a roster with marginally improved player over what we have currently and use another scholarship as a package deal, then our recruiting going forward is raising serious issues.

We have 6 spots open for 2018. If 2 of those are taken by a Top-75 PG and a defensive minded big then that is fine. Especially since it'll be a step towards restoring class balance. Additionally, neither guy should scare away any of our top 18/19 targets.

I agree with you and nyc...especially on the 3 ships...Jarreau's bio pre college says he makes good decisions, doesn't force things, gets to the basket well and finishes...sets up his teammates (thus high assist #s)...at 6'5 would be an excellent lead guard to start in '18...Gresham may now be close to 6'9 and is already a pretty accomplished shot blocker, and both guys are very athletic and can grow/get better...what is the attraction with Creighton (not that they're not a good program)...but why do they lead...I would think with Kirby's prior relationship, a chance to play for a HOF er, likely starting spot for Jarreau and meaningful available pt for Gresham, not to mention DC vs. Omaha, Neb., we'd be pretty damn attractive to them...here's hopin'...

Disagree.... He put up good numbers as a frosh and would arguably be our best player once he's eligible.. The other kid is a defensive minded rotation big. Not getting why he is being knocked as basically just taking up a scholarship, he'll play...

May not be, but couldn't come at a more opportune time for us. Come on Ewing and Kirby. Get in there! Get in there! @jonrothstein Iowa State commit Darius McNeil has been released from his Letter of Intent, per multiple sources. Part of 2017 class. Four-Star PG. Rumors are that he is likely headed to Cal, where his AAU coach was recently hired as an assistant.

Might be headed to Cal but I hope we give him a call.

Rumors were going around twitter last week saying he might decommit from TCU and sign with UNLV. We need bodies for sure, but I'm not sure he's the type we should be gunning for...

Here's folks over at the Boneyard debating about him back in late April.. Everything I've seen he's in the class of 2018. Two mobile 7 footers protecting the board on defense and cleaning up rebounds on offense, nice! Big man U again!

I wonder if this means Pat and Co see Jessie as more of a PF -- his shooting ability might make him the "Stretch 4" that he's talked about in his ideal offense. With a (hopefully) healthy Marcus at the 3, makes for an interesting look and could provide more rim protection while maximizing the returnees' skills. I thought about this scenario before, but figured with no real backup at C, it would be difficult to go this way. If this guy is a 2017 C, though, definitely a possibility.

I personally think Mourning is a PF/SF especially at the next level, his too light to be banging in the paint. Govan at C, Mourning and Derrickson can both play PF/SF positions.

Pat knows we only get 13 scholarships a year, right? Casting a wide net. Yeah right now we can't just put everything in one basket. I like the multiple 3-star type strategy, so if you miss your "Home Run" you still have a decent number of chances with developing guys who are strong to begin with. Right now it's slow, but to develop some buzz, beyond winning, which is first, of course, you have lots of guys compete for limited spots. I think the staff is playing things right with this strategy, just hope it bears fruit sooner than later.
