Is there reason why we might be interested, and vice versa? Position/Stats/Type of game/Geographic bkgrd, etc. Thanks for info...

georgiabasketballblog.com/possible-package-deal-maryland-uga/Obadiah Toppin: He is attending Mt. Zion Prep in Baltimore, Maryland. He is originally from Ossining, New York, which is in Westchester County. Toppin was a Shooting Guard and then became a Small Forward. He’s now projected as a Combo Forward. His height is said to be 6’9″ by Mt. Zion Prep on social media, but according to the latest roster released by the school, he’s 6’8″. Toppin handles the ball like a “wing” and can shoot from long range. In his last year at Ossining High School, he was a 37% three point shooter. He has offers from Maryland – Eastern Shore, Quinnipiac, Jacksonville State and Siena. Virginia Tech has expressed interest in him as well.Think this may be him, thin but looks skilled.. www.hudl.com/video/3/5477049/5721deb3e984d413d428fff6

Kinda reminds me of Brandon Bowman. Skinnier, less athletic Brandon Bowman.
Worry a little bit about the release point of the shots later in the video.

Looks like an athlete and I like his attack instincts around the rim...Hoyas need players at this point and simply must put their head down and go to work. Need kids who realize Georgetown provides an amazing opportunity and want to work for it.

Strengths: Hollins is one of the more promising wing-types out west. The willowy scorer can score from all three levels, but he is at his best when shooting the 3-point shot. He can nail the 3-point shot off the catch or convert his jump shot in transition. His release is quick and he has a nice arch on his shot. He can attack off the bounce and finish with either hand and he is not afraid to mix it up inside and rebound. In transition he is quite explosive and can easily finish above the rim.
Weaknesses: Hollins needs to get considerably stronger. While attacking defenders he easily gets bumped off his path and he struggles scoring through contact. In addition, he needs to get on balance while exhibiting his mid-range skills. Establishing a jump stop before rising up for his shot, should improve his efficiency.
Bottom Line: Hollins is one of the most improved prospects in his class on the west coast. The lengthy wing-type needs strength and continued skill development, but the physical tools are there to be a solid Division I player. This is what I like to see from the staff, I hope other kids are put on the radar soon..

That's good...how did Toppin's visit go?...He seems like a guy with a lot of talent/upside...Also, I wish you'd pass on info on the Latvian guy (Blumbergs ?) referenced I think by Etomic in another thread...6'10 with an inside/outside European game (video on him looks pretty darn good...mobile, good outside shooter, strong inside finisher) who is suposedly scheduled to visit Creighton and Grand Valley)...why not Georgetown which I would think has a lot more int'l appeal...also, the kid Bibbs 6'3 2GD out of Chicago..looks to be great program kid/very athletic/excellent shooter...under the radar/late bloomer who reminds me a little of Josh Hart coming out of HS...And lastly, the 5th year guy out of Rice (Kourevour..? that sp is probably not close) who looks to be a great replacement at 2GD/SF...thanks for possibly passing this along...

Seems like we put minimal effort into recruiting euro's--would think a big mistake since we have better name recognition than a lot of our competitors there.

I am genuinely curious why we would go after JUCO kids but the Division II and III kids never get any attention. If they aren't eligible to transfer and immediately play, that would explain a lot.
