We can start Jagan at the two because Tremont is going to be able to score and get wherever he wants off the dribble. He will create offense better than any point guard we've had in 20 years. Jagan defends, he does a ton of little things and he can serve as a secondary ball-handler Agree with this. If Tremont turns out to be the guard we believe he is, the guard rotation will be mostly at the 2, with someone spelling him for 5 to 8 minutes at the 1. He will provide scoring from the 1, and the 2 will not have to fit the shooting guard label. It would be nice, though. I'm so excited to see what this offense can do with someone like Tremont at the helm....The stuff he can do off the dribble, combined with the range on his jumper, should make him a very good offensive player from day 1....He's going to have to get better defensively, and limit turnovers. But his handles, vision and jumper are something we just haven't seen around these parts. We have to build around him, take advantage of his talent

Not nearly the ball-handler, or shooter....Chris was bigger, could finish at the rim...but Tremont's handles and jumper are better, as well as his vision. And I loved Chris Wright...

But he didn't make much effort in staying in front of his man when I saw him. I told myself part of this is because he had to be on the floor 32 minutes and couldn't risk foul trouble....I hope it's different once he gets to the hilltop

It will still be a bit different. Obviously, college is faster...but for his HS team every single possession started and ended with him, and that won't be the case here. So hopefully he'll have more energy to defend

IF JT3 is still the coach, he will need to figure something out so that players have the same energy in February as they did in November.

“What he’s doing is off the charts,” Wilhelm said. “He’s a team player, a smart guy, very humble. He’s had unreal growth since last year. His game has gotten so much better. He can take it to the rim, pass it and shoot the 3. His coaches say he loves working on his game. “He dunked over a 6-5 kid the other night in the championship game and it was the best dunk I’ve seen in years. He has a tremendous frame and I have no question he can play at Illinois, maybe now.” Until recently, Smith’s basketball scholarship offers were from Drake, Northern Illinois, SIU-Edwardsville, Indiana State and DePaul. But in the last couple weeks, Kansas State and Illinois have jumped in with offers. Smith was Illinois’ guest Sunday at their game against Ohio State. “Word’s out,” Wilhelm said. “Schools are calling now wanting to get tape. I’d say in a year where we have Tilmon, Goodwin and Pickett, Smith is probably our Player of the Year right now.” herald-review.com/blogs/mark_tupper/illini-now-chasing-edwardsville-s-mark-smith/article_c4403f7e-d1fb-11e6-89f1-83742b84954c.htmlUnbelievable performance in a state playoff game last night in front of Thad Matta and Tim Miles. Smith scored a career-best 45 points, pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds and dished out six assists to lead the top-rated Tigers to an 81-59 victory over the Vikings in the championship game of the IHSA Class 4A Ottawa Sectional. www.commercial-news.com/sports/local_sports/undeniable-performance/article_8d5d758c-7f8e-5e50-ba5b-85e101d4d0ed.html

We've got Walker coming in that fits that same bill, not to say that we don't need a another wing but I've been leaning more towards a bigger SG/SF.

I'd reach out to him...you never know, there could be a connection...maybe we could have (The Rev.) Derrick Jackson (Wheaton, Ill.) reach out to him...who here remembers him hitting that left side jumper in Morgantown, WVa. to send JT,jr's team to his first NCAA tourney? Man, I'm getting old...

According to the scholarship table, we'll have 4 open scholarships after the Trey departure. Can anyone remember a time there were this many openings at this time of the year?
