Given JT3's history of riding guys who have seen consistent minutes for him ( Nate, Jerelle, Hop, etc), my prediction is:
DSR Bril Bowen Hopkins Smith
EArly substitutions of Reggie, Ike and LJ

Man Rockcity I hope that you're wrong because that lineup would struggle to score. The substitution would have to be extremely early. I'm talking 2 mins in. DSR Brilly Ike Hop Big Josh Peak 1st off the bench subbing for Brilly.

hoyazeke I hear you! Not saying that's what i'd like to see, just saying that if I had to put money on it that would be my guess. What i'd like to see:
DSR Bril White Ike Smith
Peak and Hop first off the bench, Reggie next.

I don't see that happening till sophomore year. Think peak will start before him.

Remember that last year's team didn't make the tournament and was the worst defensive team JTIII said he has coached on the Hill Top. So expect Coach to do what it takes to change the line-up/minutes and improve. He isn't going to start DSR, Jabril, Aaron, Mikael and Josh. No way, no how. JTIII has consistently been willing to insert talented freshmen into the line-up to enhance scoring and defense (past examples include Wallace, Porter, DSR, etc). DSR is OK on D but not laterally quick and in no way a lock-down defender. Jabril is tough, tough, tough on D but foul prone. His average of 26 mins per game should increase if he avoids dumb fouls. Josh is a tremendous scorer with the ball in his hands but has been shown to be a liability on defense. The PF and SF positions are going to need to step up, rotate and help out. We know LJ and Ike can both play offense - one is a pure scorer and the other a scorer/facilitator in the mold of Jeff Green. But can they play solid team defense? That is the real question to starting/sustained minutes this year. I didn't see any Kenner games but if the reports are accurate, I would predict both Ike and LJ to be part of the starting equation this season.

Starting lineup at what point in the season?
I find it difficult to believe that a kid that can do those things won't be starting by midseason.

Heck, I am just thankful that JT-3 will have some tough decisions to make as it relates to starting five. I like Peak, Copeland, and white. Hopkins better bring some game. that's all I am saying.

LJ Peak’s play during his final high school season: -------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Dorman head coach Thomas Ryan after After LJ put up 44 to lead Gaffney past Dorman 71 to 64) :
“L.J. is as good of a high school player as I’ve seen in person and I played against (NBA star) Kevin Garnett,” Dorman head coach Thomas Ryan said
***
(Irmo coach Tim Whipple after his team beat Gaffney 76-65 in the third round of the 4A State playoffs despite 49 from LJ. ) :
The defending state champs had to overcome the performance of Peak to advance. The Georgetown commit scored almost at will but wasn’t getting help from his teammates. He had seven points in the first quarter, 13 in the second, 14 in the third and 15 in the fourth, but it was not enough. But that didn’t diminish his performance.
“I remember telling someone the only player that I’ve coached against in my 33 years that we couldn’t do anything with was Ray Allen,” Whipple said. “But Peak is that type of player. I would have thought if he scored that many points we would be in trouble. But what happened is our half-court defense and pressure kept the rest of the guys off-balance. They could never get into any rhythm and they had to look to him for everything. Because of that, he wasn’t able to do enough.”
***
Excerpt from Gaffney Ledger’s Joel L. Hughes’ wrap-up of LJ Peak’s final year
All year, he’d been able to will Gaffney back into ball games, no matter the deficit. Proving the heart of a champion, Peak fought valiantly against defending Class 4A champion Irmo, virtually trading baskets in a brave attempt to reverse a fate that almost seemed inevitable.
Though not the desired result, Peak’s 49 point performance in his final game may have proven to be his best, a memorable conclusion to the career of one of the most talented players to ever grace a S.C. basketball court. If only it could have finished with a more fitting ending … the state title with which he so desperately desired.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kenner League Play
Hoyas247 (tweet) If you allow LJ Peak to cross half court with a head of steam he'll take it right to the rim. Hes living at foul line due to aggressiveness.
***
TerrapinStationMD (tweet) I have no idea where LJ Peak fits in the Hoyas offense, but that kid is going to be fantastic for them.
***
Michael Bohlin of Hoyas247:
LJ Peak: The Peak Show was back in full effect this weekend as he continued his scorching scoring pace with a 37 point performance on Sunday. Peak put the full offensive arsenal on display on Sunday showing why he was nearly unstoppable coming out of Gaffney High School as he played well above the rim while also knocking down five three pointers.
Peak was able to hit shots from the mid range and out on Sunday and once the first three pointer fell it seemed that the flood gates opened. Peak is at his best when he has the ball in his hands and is able to create for himself off of the dribble. As I have noted previously this summer, if you allow him to pick up a head of steam as he crosses half court he is going to take it right to the rim.
***
Excerpt from Hoya Ron of Hoya Report:
LJ effect: his penchant for getting to the cup, INFURIATED others (hahaha), including Bradley Hayes, who was overheard on the court commenting on it.
mo creek lamented the calls afterward, but also applauded Peak, saying "he earned them...he was going hard".
***
Ben Standig writeup for csnwashington.com :
Based on the Kenner League hype, 6-foot-5 high-flyer L.J. Peak is the next Hoya worthy of poster treatment, as in he can dunk over a defender with the greatest of ease.
The former George Washington star and D.C. area hoops Maurice Creek caught the show first-hand. The wing guards were often matched up last Saturday as Creek's DCS squad defeated The Tombs despite 36 points from Peak. Two of those points came on a 2-on-1 fast break opportunity late in the game. Racing down the left side, Peak caught a pass, elevated to the rafters and dunked over the helpless defender. That defender, Maurice Creek.
"They claimed [Peak] dunked me," said a chuckling Creek. "I'll give him that."
One of the elite high school talents produced from the Maryland suburbs in recent years also gave the heralded freshman plenty of praise for the rest of his game.
Many of those 36 points came on conventional plays. Peak's driving ability and athleticism led to constant trips to the free throw line. He knocked down mid-range jumpers and showed range to the 3-point line.
"He's a hell of a player," Creek said. "Very crafty. Gets to the rim very well. He's very athletic. Caught me one time. He's a good player. He's a pro. Georgetown should be glad they got him because he'll make a difference."

A post on the Casual Hoya website by TexaHoya, who has been following the Hoyas since 1976:
L.J. Peak – WOW! It’s only Kenner, but even just watching warm-ups, you can see he’s special. I don’t think the Hoyas have ever had somebody like him. 6’4"-6’5" and fast, quick and strong. Excellent body control, great hang time and loves to finish at the rim. Probably not as fast as AI, but close. His offensive skills remind me of MJ as a freshman. Where he goes and how he develops is up to him and III (Jordan was excellent, but not dominant as a freshman, mostly because of the Dean Smith system, but also because he was a freshman on a really good team).
***
Excerpt from tmottola after covering the KL all summer for Casual Hoya :
Peak looks like the freshman most ready to make an impact right from the jump. Again, from an "eye test" perspective - he looks to be a special talent. His ability to attack the basket and finish through/around contact is highly developed. Peak is likely to get significant (20+, maybe even more) minutes right off the bat, he is too dynamic offensively to keep on the bench.
***
My own question posed to Glidehoya after the Kenner League was over :
You've seen countless KL games up close over the years, Glide. Where would you rank Peak among incoming GU freshmen of the past?
Glide’s response :
He's up there he's A. I.-ish ….. Gene Smith says he's a "franchise" lol I TOTALLY believe him, as a matter of fact I told him he was a BEAST. We watched and talked
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preseason coverage
Jon Rothstein of CBSSports after wathing the Hoyas practice last week (tweet):
L.J. Peak is going to take pressure off D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera. 6-5 freshman should be an immediate offensive factor. Really gets to rim.
Yeah, let's not start THIS guy.
Didn't even include the countless randowm tweets regarding LJ from various observers calling him the baddest thing around and other expressions of hyperbole. I think the examples I used above are enough, particularly considering who the people I chose to quote ---- actual players, reporters who are paid to know something about what they are reporting on, bloggers who make it their duty to cover/follow a program or college basketball in general, longtime fans who have seen the all the greats who have pass through the Georgetown program, high school coaches in South Carolina who have a wealth of information at their disposal thanks to their years of playing and or coaching against some of the to high school talent to ever come out of South Carolina. The consensus: that LJ dude is pretty ::bleeping:: good.
I know there have been arguments that the Hoyas need scoring punch off the bench and therefore Peak may be best suited there. I respectfully disagree. You put your best five on the floor if at all possible. Exceptions are if you have two guys who play the exact position and exact style (two back-to-the basket centers; two pass-first point guards), etc.) or if you think the player in question regardless of talent is too immature to be handle starting at the early stage of his career. Other than that go with your most talented and dynamic five. And it seems LJ would fit the criteria to be in that five. Worry about bench scoring later. Besides...I have seen more than my share of III teams with talented starting lineups that still get off to a slow start in as far as scoring is concerned. Let's see if we can fix that problem this season and I feel LJ will help the team do that.
My starting five is the same as Rothstein's :
Jabril Josh Smith DSR Copleland LJ
Let's go.

This has a bit of what was mentioned in your post for those interested: For those of you who never had a chance to watch Victor Page play, I think LJ is the closest thing we've had that can compare with VP. VP would go hard to the rack and try to dun on his defender. He had a nice midrange game. He got very high on his jump shot and had a high release from three. Would not be at all surprised if LJP is every bit the player VP was.

Saw some of Victor when he was in high school. One of the last great players from DC public schools. But from what I've seen of Peak (very limited) is more impressive across the board with the possible exception of Page's jumpstop jumpshot.

I live in SC now (just south of Charlotte) and I regret not taking the time to go see LJ play in high school. Even if he doesn't start right away he will be sooner or later. You can't keep talent like that off the floor.
If the Rothstein/MCI starting 5 happens it's because our freshmen are as good as advertised and that should scare the hell out of the rest of the BE.
