If he likes the idea of playing back here and his parents went to Georgetown then GU should be the obvious choice. if Maryland is recruiting him better than we are we have serious issues. Gotta agree with this. Especially since I hate Md.

Maryland and Georgetown are pretty different. I'm not sure what you mean by recruiting him better but it's unlikely that a kid would feel a similar level of fit at Georgetown and Maryland. It has to be even more difficult to gauge with a kid whose parent/s attended a school that is recruiting him. Some kids want that tradition and some want to break out in a different direction. I should have prefaced this by saying that I know nothing about Jaren's recruiting. Only that it seems that it's more difficult to get a feel for with legacies than with other kids. And with the kids with no ties to a school, it's already really difficult to figure.

JAREN JACKSON’S RISE CONTINUES
"Jackson, a 6-foot-10 four-star forward from Indianapolis, outplayed 6-foot-11 Marvin Bagley, the No. 1-ranked player in the nation in the 2018 class.
Really showing his shooting and face-up game, Jackson had a game-high 23 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots as the Spiece Indy Heat beat the Phoenix Phamily 87-78.
Even though he’s been battling some lower back pain, Jackson shot 3-for-6 from 3, 4-for-9 from 2 and 6-for-6 from the line.
Jackson did most of his work from the perimeter with just six of his points coming in the paint.
Bagley had 13 points, eight rebounds and shot 6-for-12 from the floor, including 1-for-4 from the arc.

Even though Jackson is in the 2017 class, he’s 16 and could be in the 2018 class, which made this matchup even more intriguing.
Spiece point guard Justin Roberts also played well.
The Indianapolis Pike 2017 guard had 22 points, with 14 of them coming in the paint."

Bossi’s take: For my money, Jackson is the single most improved player in the EYBL. Yes, he’s always been a very good prospect, but he’s grown to near 6-foot-10 and taken his game to an entirely new level. He’s well on his way to five-star status and led the Spiece Indy Heat to a 3-1 weekend. Way too early prediction: Maryland. basketballrecruiting.n.rivals.com/news/hampton-eybl-predictions-and-evaluations

I'm hoping with PEJR on the case we can make up any ground and get him to the Hilltop.
Where he belongs.

We just need to stomp Maryland on November 15th. Crush them in our house.

Is it incorrect that JT3 essentially fired Jaren Jackson when he was first hired? Jackson was an assistant under Esh I believe and had expressed a desire to stay. I'm not blaming JT3 - most coaches bring in a whole new staff to start fresh. But could explain why the elder Jaren isn't exactly pushing his alma mater on his son, and why his son hasn't dreamed of playing for dad's school

Jaren expressed a desire to be considered for the head coaching job. I'm not sure if he expressed a desire to stay on with JT3. Either way, it was 10 years ago and there are lots of reasons why Jaren Jackson Sr. wouldn't push his son to a particular school, the big one being he's old enough to make his own decisions.

We have a current assistant opening - any chance Jackson comes back as an assistant!? Have the opportunity to coach his son - that would be appealing to some.

Didn't mean to imply that it would be the main/only reason not to steer him toward Georgetown, just another consideration in his recruitment.

Recruitment: Pittsburgh, Alabama, Maryland, Michigan State, Purdue, Notre Dame, Indiana, Butler, Georgetown and others have offered. Bossi’s take: We’ve mentioned it multiple times this spring, but Jackson is arguably the most improved player in the class of 2017. At about 6-foot-10 he has skill, an ideal basketball body type, he seems to still be growing and he’s showing new wrinkles each time out. The rate he’s going, Jackson could make a legitimate push for the national top 15. basketballrecruiting.n.rivals.com/news/on-the-rise-top-spring-stock-boosters-in-2017

Jaren Jackson overall improvement over the last couple of months is mind boggling! I know it's a small clip but he looks really comfortable handling the rock driving to the from the top of the key! SMDH regarding how much and how quickly he has improved.

This is why I said what I said about the possibility of him being a 1 and done is not that silly. 6'11 guys who do what he is doing in those clips dont hang around very long in college.

Maryland just signed 4 star Justin Jackson to their incoming 2016 class. Wonder how that might effect their recruiting of Jaren, they seem set at the small and power forward positions in the immediate future. Also why would Jaren want to play on the team with another Jackson that's so confusing!
