Shot release still a bit low but has gotten a lot quicker, also looks more confident handling the ball for sure. I could see his career going similar to Otto's.. Steady early, start to take off at the end of his Freshman season, big Soph year, bye bye... Absolutely agree you regarding his shot mechanics.

Jaren Jackson Jr. outplayed Marvin Bagley III the consensus #1 Rated Prospect 2018 Class and most people consider him the best overall high school prospect no matter what class.
I watched the game and while JJ Jr. has a lot of things in his game he needs to improve, he scores the ball overall inside with such ease over either shoulder and when he steps out behind the arch to receive the kick out pass, if he's open JJ Jr. knocks it down so smoothly. Even though his form is a little low and flat, his release is quick and the results are fantastic. He runs the floor extremely well and his impressive length help make him a very difficult defender to score over inside. I also like the fact he's not afraid to put the ball on the floor even though the results of doing so are still mixed and that part of his game is absolutely a work in process.
I'm pretty sure he will be a consensus ranked top 20 prospect and a very very good shot to finish in the top 10 just based on upside alone. I predict he will finish in the top 10 on every site except ESPN unless he commits to an ACC school. All that said he is still not a 1 & done prospect. He might have the opportunity like Greg Monroe did or like Ivan Rabb to leave after his freshman year but because of his family background he will stay until at least his sophomore year to better prepare his body and his draft position to avoid spending any time in the D League. Because of his age, I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed through his Junior Year so that he could be highly impactful during rookie season in the league while also getting closer to finishing his degree.

At 6-foot-9 with a plus 7-foot wing span, Jackson is someone who has all the tools to play basketball at the highest level for a long time. A humble kid by nature, Jackson at times has been content to blend in during his basketball career, but now he seems to be embracing more of the role of an alpha dog. This increase in toughness and energy from Jackson has also led to more and more schools entering his recruitment. Still there is Maryland, Georgetown (where his parents went to school), Notre Dame, Michigan State, Michigan, Purdue, Indiana, Alabama, and a host of others. While Jackson has had a chance to make several unofficial visits, the Indianapolis are standout is in absolutely no hurry to select a college. In fact Jackson and his parents have indicated that a decision could extend into the winter so that they have a chance to make official visits to all of the colleges on his list. It is definitely slightly premature to talk specifics when it comes to rankings, there is no doubt that his current position of No. 59 overall is significantly too low. More consistency like he has shown this spring, and it wouldn’t be out of the question for Jackson to be knocking on the door of five-star status.___________ File that one under things a blind man can see... Quite simply there isn’t a player in the Midwest having a better spring than Jaren Jackson. The near 6-foot-10 power forward is absolutely doing everything. He is making three’s at a high clip, he is blocking shots, he is playing harder than ever, and also he is scoring on the block. Jackson has been one of the most consistent and productive players all spring long, and the scary thing is he is just figuring out how good he is. Recruiting: Maryland, Georgetown, Purdue, Indiana, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Butler, Alabama, Xavier, Stanford www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1670194-eybl-session-iii-top-performersVideo also

While I agree the kid gets to pick his own school, I will be terribly disappointed if he is not a Hoya.

Love his self awareness, seems to be extremely level headed and also seems to be a nice young man. I also agree, unfortunately, with poppa Jaren's philosophy on the recruitment of his son in regards to not necessarily steering him towards GU and letting him make his own decision. Maybe mom has a different opinion..... would love for him to follow in his parents footsteps and become a Hoya. (fingers crossed)

And of course if he picked UMD, it would be a sign of treason.

MD is doing a great job recruiting him and he likes the idea of playing back home, since he's originally from this area.
No problem if he picked Maryland at all.

If he likes the idea of playing back here and his parents went to Georgetown then GU should be the obvious choice. if Maryland is recruiting him better than we are we have serious issues.
