I didn't prevent my daughter from going anywhere. I just told her I would never pay dime to Syracuse. (Or if she majored in any kind of social science BS like Gender Studies.)
BTW, I won't interview any job candidates who graduated from Syracuse. That would just show an appalling lack of judgment on their part.

PE Jr chose IU the first time around. Nobody wanted Riyan or Alonzo Jr. They wouldn't be here if it weren't for their fathers. Really poor examples. JJ Jr is a top recruit. Perfect examples. They could have gone to any school at any level. Yet they Georgetown. I honestly wouldn't have begrudged them going to any school, be it Indiana or somewhere else. Just not SU or CP. Except they couldn't go anywhere. They ended up here as sort of a favor to their parents. Their parents' relationship with the school got them the opportunity. As a parent, you want what is best for your kid and leave your ego or fandom out of it. What if JJ Sr thinks Georgetown or the staff isn't a fit for his son, or some other program fits better?

Going to Georgetown and not going to SU/Maryland are two different things.
If he decides to go to UMCP it also says a lot about his pops and his regard for the program.

The only thing it would say is that he grew up in a normal household where his parents allowed him to make one of the biggest decisions of his life for himself.
That's it.

His life, his choice...

His life, his choice... but I know in my house-hold I grew up watching Georgetown basketball and despising SU and UMD (and the ACC but my father actually likes them ). We can only hope that JJSr felt that connection with the University through the years to enjoy the games with his family (although it was hard to watch through the Esherick years/JJ Jr's youth). If it is true that JJSr felt slighted about the occurences around JT3 hire, the relationship with the university may have gone through some rough times and you never know what has been said in the privacy on ones own home. We can only hope that JT3 and the staff continue to make good impressions on JJ Jr and that JJ Sr still feels like a member of the community.

We told our son the school he attended was his choice, as long as he made a good choice.

Would love to have this kid. That said, my father played basketball at Villanova and I didn't consider going there, nor did he pressure me to do so.
Here's where I come out on this, though...the main reason we seem to be pointing at, which we think puts us in the pole position for JJjr, is his father's connection to Gtown. Let's hope this resonates with JJjr, but if I am a highly rated 4 star recruit, presumably with hopes of making my career in the NBA, I'm looking at a lot more than just family connections. While true that Georgetown has had success in terms of getting players of his style to the league, there are very legitimate and understandable arguments to be made for other schools on his list. Frankly, if I attended a Maryland game as a recruit, I'd be pretty attracted to playing their style in that type of environment...

I believe JJ was a valedictorian. I hope education plays a role in Junior's selection.

If JJJ wants to attend a large state university he should opt for North Carolina (and actually attend class), Michigan, UCLA (yeah, they stunk perhaps even worse than we did this year - what a season) or Cal. Not UMCP. I just hope he has been raised properly. If he has, he won't make the clear wrong choice.

Supporting Cast: 6-foot-9 Jaren Jackson and 6-foot-7 Parker Hazen will both contribute in the frontcourt, with Hazen playing more on the wing.
2016 Outlook: Spiece should find success in 2016, and they will do it behind one of the biggest rotations on the circuit. The Heat features six players over 6-foot-6, and will lean heavily on two forwards - sophomore Brandon Johns and junior Xavier Tillman. Top to bottom, this is a lineup that should be able to compete with the league's best, but until we see them on the court, it's hard to accurately predict where Indianapolis' EYB affiliate will finish in 2016.

You know what's scary about Jaren Jackson's game, it's still in its infancy stages of development. Kid could be a monster in a couple years.

He is scary talented. I think he's a top 25 talent. Unfortunately it seems like we have no shot.
