Anyone else get sick watching Davante Gardner get the ball at the foul line, turn and hit easy buckets? A simple thing but something none of our front court can do. And that includes Josh Smith. And until they can we will have a hard time winning the coming games.

I am glad someone else said that the call on Caprio was pretty soft. I would have expected that foul called at an away game without question but in our own house the refs should have let that be a steal and it would have been for a home team player at more than half the college basketball venues where the players are close enough to let the refs feel it! There was also a Starks elbow that was interfered with on a drive by a Marquette's players face and there was no call while on Lubick his nose was guilty of a 5th foul.

As an afterthought, the fact that we shoot 68% from the line as a team is ridiculous. There is virtually no one outside of our starting backcourt who can be counted on from the stripe. When you take out both Starks and DSR who both shoot well over 80%, the rest of the team has to be hovering somewhere in the 50s (too lazy to actually do the math). It's an embarrassment and completely unacceptable.

I will cop to having missed the Marquette game. But if, at the halfway point in the season, are arguing about the relative merits of playing Caprio...what the hell has happened this year. If people are legitimately arguing that Caprio should get significant minutes in games, then (1) that's an enormous indictment on our recruiting and/or player development the last few years, and (2) this season is shot.

Game Thoughts:
1. I believe this team still has talent evidenced by the ability to get the lead on teams going into the 2nd half (At some point, the coaching and talent needs to come together to finish the task and win the game)
2. It will take at least 3 double digit scorers to beat Creighton (DSR, Starks, front court player or a wing man)
3. Our defense will have to hold Creighton below 50%FG to have a chance to win.
4. I am looking at a team total of 39 rebounds for the game, if the number is less than that, we are in trouble

This Just In, 39 rebounds, not a chance, they are too athletic. Assuming we hold them under 50% from the floor, 30 rebounds is more like it. I think Hoya's had 39 rebounds just once this year, and that was against inferior talent.
Hope the Hoya can keep this game respectable. We need to shoot lights out.

Georgetown has actually had at least 39 rebounds in eight games (Wright State, Lipscomb, High Point, Colgate, Elon, Providence, Butler, and Seton Hall), but that alone won't be enough to beat Creighton. Let's hope our offense is so sharp that we don't give many opportunities for offensive rebounds.

Exactly. It's more of an idictment on Nate's own lack of improvement in the free throw department (I think that's more on Nate then the coaches - but still somewhat on the Coach's) and Josh and Greg's inability to elevate their academic game causing us depth issues. This season is not shot yet. We could stun a team like Nova, MSU or Creighton and be right back in the hunt.

This won't be a good game for us. Creighton has the best player in the nation right now, and other guys are athletic and can shoot well from the 3s. I see Creighton as a strong pick to make it into FF this year. With our awful defense this year, these guys will run us out, unless both Markel and DSR have career nights and also Creighton has the worst shooting performance of this season.

KenPom says we have a 7% chance of winning the game. Hey, it's not a lot, but still a chance. For reference, FGCU was projected to have worse odds than that against us last year.

Fickle? More like smart. Why pay for tickets, brave the cold weather, etc.. for that product? Build up a winner and they will come. +1

we will need to extend our D to stop the threes/ In the past we had Hollis or Otto in the middle on the perimeter. We might want to try Aaron out there for the first half until he fouls out.

Hopefully he is inserted after the 16:00 mark t.v timeout, I think he could be effective in disrupting Creighton's offense early via steals and blocks, help control the glass with rebounding and offensively probably the team's best finisher at the rim. Also with the starter minutes that Reggie Cameron gets, he is going to need to show up and score. With the minutes that Caprio gets in the back court to rest DSR & Starks, hopefully no slippage and he might be able to lead the team in assists for the 2nd straight game. If offensively Creighton and Doug McDermott get off to a fast...it is going to be a long night; our type of offense is not known for the ability to make-up deficits quickly. Hopefully the refs let us play; allow us to press them and contest every shot without ticky tack calls. Every chance we have to run and score, I hope we do it. This game could also turn into a chess match between JTIII and Gregg McDermott so hopefully the in game adjustments used by JTIII works.
