The grad students on the men's side returning are Michael Crozier, Darren Fahy, and Michael Lederhouse, besides our grad transfer from Notre Dame, Michael Clevenger.
It seems as if Andrew Bumbalough has created a pipeline to GU from Tennessee, as three Volunteers populate the roster: the two freshman, Joshua Bell (isn't he a violinist; from Bumbi old HS) and Jon Chavez, plus Adam Barnard.

Looking at the men's roster, it seems as if we have another group of middle distance runners capable of breaking four minutes in the mile. In one of the indoor meets, if all are healthy, I would say Amos Bartelsmeyer, Michael Lederhouse (who have both been there before, Spencer Brown (came close last year), Darren Fahy, and Michael Clevenger (who ran 3:43 1500m at Notre Dame) all have a chance. Maybe the Hoyas will have five in one heat under four.

Josette Norris announced she is transferring from UNC to Georgetown. She was an elite recruit coming out of high school but chose UNC over Georgetown. Finished 10th in the Southeast regional in cross country in 2015.

Good news about Josette. I wonder if she knew Coach Smith was leaving when she made her decision to transfer.

And possibly freshman recruit Jack Salisbury.

I was a little surprised that the women were ranked higher than the men for their recruiting class. Maybe they included Josette. Cross country ratings come out next week. I wonder how many of our freshmen will redshirt this first year. The men are so deep that they can field two teams of seven men each. That is including all the freshmen.

Tenafly's Lexi DelGizzo, the NJSIAA Meet of Champions winner in the 800-meter run last spring, made her college choice on Friday night.
The winner is...............Georgetown University.
Del Gizzo, who also visited Bucknell and Northeastern, is cancelling visits to Wake Forest and Villanova.
Last spring, DelGizzo ran personal bests of 56.47 in the 400 and 2:10.17 in the 800.
At Georgetown, DelGizzo will be reunited with former high school teammate Josette Norris, and will be coached by N.J. legend Julie Culley, a 2012 U.S. Olympian. Culley was named interim director of cross-country and track at Georgetown last month.

Looks like a future elite--very good speed endurance combo for a hs jr. Somewhat odd choice of schools for an elite track recruit other than vill/gtwn.

Cross country for both men and women should be fine next year. I believe four of the seven men, who ran today come back next year with some redshirt freshman running next year. I don't know that status of Jon Green and Darren Fahy. If they are eligible next year, we should be really good. The women should bounce back next year. EDIT: Darren Fahy is a grad student, so he might not even have eligibility for XC this year. I hope he will be back for the outdoor season. Adam Barnard, who is not running this year, will probably help us next year.
EDIT(2): Darren Fahy did have XC eligibility this year, but he has been injured. The men's XC depth can be seen, at least in the Big east, is that the men won with a low score of 33 without Darren and Jon Green.

Good news-looks like a potential high elite performer with 57.X/2:06X speed as a jr. Definitely reassuring that we are still recruiting well given the changes in the coaching staff.

And Olivia is the granddaughter of NBA great Paul Arizin. Most of the people on this board probably don't remember Paul, but he was the NBA's leading scorer for a few years. And he went to Nova, so this is quite a coup to get his granddaughter.

And he went to Nova, so this is quite a coup to get his granddaughter. Paul Arizin was only 6-4 but once put up 85 in a game for Nova and 100 points in an exhibition against a junior college. Averaged 20.0 ppg for his college career; arguably one of the three greatest players in Villanova hoop history, alongside Howard Porter and Ed Pinckney. In the NBA he averaged 22.8 points a game for the Philadelphia Warriors. A member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and voted to the NBA Half-Century team in 1996. www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/arizipa01.html

Well, Oregon got Troy, but we got Olivia (who had an offer from Oregon).

Wishful thinking:
PLACE PTS NAME YR TEAM TIME 2.5K 2.5K --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 1 David Principe Jr. SR La Salle Running Club 15:18.0 7:40 7:38 2 2 Jordan Brannan SR Colts Neck TC 15:51.8 8:04 7:48 3 Tyler Marshall SR UNA-Marshall 15:55.9 7:56 8:00 4 3 Alexander Roth SR Princeton Cranbury TC 15:56.5 8:00 7:57 5 4 David Rosas SR Don Bosco 15:59.7 7:56 8:04
David was the teammate at LaSalle in RI of Jack Salisbury and Matt Bouthillette. This race was the Northeast NXN race. He set the course record. Maybe Jack and Matt will convince him to come to GU.
