Two new grad transfers for the women. First Kiera Bothwell, Virginia graduate and 10:03.88 steeplechaser.
Next, Sara Platek, ACC Indoor 5000m Silver Medalist and NCAA Regional Qualifier in the 10k will join the Hoyas as a graduate transfer from Duke University this fall.

Another grad transfer:
Welcome to Georgetown, Scott Johnson!
The Air Force Academy graduate joins the Hoyas as an NCAA XC qualifier and has personal bests of 3:47.80 (1500m) and 8:06.14 (3000m).
I am not sure how he gets out of his air force commitments. Perhaps he can put them on hold until after grad school.

Cate Joaquin, a senior at St. Francis High in Sacramento and 2019 Foot Locker national finalist along with a Division 2 all-state honoree in California, commits to Georgetown. A local runner.
More on Cate from the St. Francis website:
CATE JOAQUIN Cross Country/Track & Field • Georgetown University
Two-time team captain in both cross and track… Runs for head coach Melanie Cleland… Placed 4th at CIF state cross country meet in 2019, the highest-ever finish by a Troubie at the state meet… Also SFHS' first qualifier at the Foot Locker National Championship in cross country… Won Delta League individual championships in both cross country (2019) and track & field (3,200 meters, 2019)… All-Delta League performer in both sports, most recently placing second at league championship at William Jessup… Holds seven school records: 3-mile, 3,200 meters, 2.87-mile and 2.93-mile runs in cross; 1,600, 4x1,600 relay and distance medley relay in track)… One of just four Troubies in history to record a sub-five-minute mile… Key track PRs: 4:54.79 in 1,600; 10:33.77 in 3,200, both during sophomore season… Also runs for Loomis Elite, earning USATF J.O. All-America honors (2018) and helping team place 2nd at AAU cross country championship (2020)… National Honor Society and CSF member… High honor roll member every semester at SFHS, earning subject awards in applied chemistry and technology… Also a National Latin Exam honoree… Plans on studying finance or accounting at the Hilltop… Has more than 140 hours of community service via various organizations, including a cross country team service project that delivered 100 bagged lunches to the hungry… Plans on leading another such project this November, with plans of making it an annual team tradition after her departure from SFHS.
EDIT: I saw Cate run at the SJS section meet on Saturday. She came in 3rd and I believe her team, St. Francis, finished 2nd, so she and team go to State. I shouted Hoya Saxa as she was about 400m from the finish!

Caleb Lakeman has actually run 3:52 for 1500. He’s got good genes, as his dad ran 13:35 and 28:30 a long time ago.

Marco Langon of Bridgewater-Raritan ran a time of 15:06 to move among the top echelon of boys in the history of Holmdel Park and beat Ridge's Jackson Barna (15:13) for the second straight week. They met in the Group 4 final a week ago, when Langon ran 15:38 and Barna 15:50.

Is Newbury Park the greatest HS XC team of all time and are we recruiting from this school? Their 7th runner went 15:09 in the California Southern Section Finals today - hope they let him back on the team bus after embarrassing his teammates by making them wait for him at the finish line for so long Results Link
