Fair is seldom used anymore in connection with the NCAA. A more appropriate word might be random or arbitrary. With multiple litigants pursuing grievances it seems that this organization is headed for major overhaul. Random and arbitrary in your favor is sooo much cooler that random and arbitrary at odds with your desires. Very excited and optimistic that Josh copes and thrives at GU. If so, sky is the limit.

From goodman "Josh Smith COULD be a major factor for the Hoyas if in shape. JT3 told me last week he came in able to go 2 min. straight. Now up to 10" Not a great sign if true. If he will help needs to get 20mins at a minimum. I think you might have missed the "straight" part of the quote. 10 minutes straight would be great. Probably equal 25-30 minutes per game which is about as much as we could hope for.

Obviously you want as much as Smith can give you but even 20-25 this year would be huge. I am not trying to knock Hopkins but replacing his 80 offensive efficiency with Smith's 100+ is huge.

Fantastic news. Now I do not want to see anyone badmouthing the NCAA for at least 24 hours.

Aaron and Joshua and Moses - OK I'll say it, this could be a season of biblical proportions!

The decision, not surprisingly, is getting a lot of heat from the press. I'm curious myself as to why 6 games didn't cost Josh at least a semester: Seth Davis @sethdavishoops 12m I predict the Josh Smith decision will be the tipping point on cbk transfer waivers. Everyone sits or everyone plays. Enough already. Gary Parrish @garyparrishcbs 25m The NCAA has granted some inexplicable waivers. But what it granted Josh Smith is the wildest ever. Story: www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24128933/josh-smith-cleared-to-play-at-georgetown-immediately … Dan Wolken @danwolken 1h Josh Smith getting a two-year waiver at Georgetown is remarkable. Left UCLA after 6 games b/c he was disgruntled, NCAA says "No prob!" Dan Wolken @danwolken 43m From the messages I'm getting, compliance folks aren't real thrilled with this Josh Smith ruling either. Jeff Goodman @goodmanespn 1h NCAA clears Josh Smith to play immediately at Georgetown. Shocker Andy Katz @espnandykatz 2h The door is wide open now for mid-semester transfers to appeal to play the following fall at a new place.

Everyone not a Georgetown fan is bashing the NCAA for this decision. Haters gonna hate lol. Obviously not sure how we lawyered our way into this situation, but I love it. Seems like NCAA is trolling sports writers now by making the craziest decisions they can come up with. Huge news for us though.

Great news! Must be a motivator for Josh to get into really good shape. It is up to him now. I was not expecting this good news. I have taken for a given that he would start after the first semester ended. Wow!!!

Awesome news. Not the outcome I expected but I like it.
I really hope we can get 20 minutes a game. Keep working at it big man and you will have a jersey on the wall.

Something really bad must have happened at UCLA. That is the only explanation. And I doubt it ever comes out.

Very good news. Now fans need to lower expectations. Having watched Smith for two years it is clear that he is a natural talent with enormous potential. However, conditioning is not the only problem. The kid needs to learn to be a better defender. The games in preseason will be of critical importance to his development.

Very happy with this decision, but it's still stupid. Then again, given the wrist slap that the NCAA just laid on Miami, it does seem that the NCAA is going into roll over and play dead mode.
Note, though, that the decision is clearly less stupid than either granting Josh only six months of eligibility, or one year of eligibility for 2014-15. But still stupid.

He got the deal that Echinique got when he transferred from Rutgers to Creighton. The NCAA decisions seem to come down to a judgment of the actions of the former school and whether the player had good cause to leave abruptly. So UCLA is the new Rutgers.

Things just got pretty interesting. I think JT-3 should have Moses backing up Josh at center.

As it benefits the Hoyas, I'm happy. But this is a really strange decision with the potential for huge long term ramifications, mostly negative ones, across all of college basketball.
