About 3 pages of discussion about this already starting about here and a reasonable summary of the scenario here. Until there is some announcement from the program that the NCAA has granted a waiver allowing Smith to play part (second semester) or all of 2013-14, it will either be second semester 2013-14 or all of 2014-15. Not much else to discuss than that, actually.

Is it tasteless to suggest that Hoyatalk display a scale icon with dynamic updating at the top of the page? thanks

That comment to the article did not inspire confidence.

That comment to the article did not inspire confidence. Hard to say how valid it is. While there is a lot of direct interaction between the students and the (student) athletes, in my experience being in the varsity weight area (its only walled off with curtains in Yates) when a conversation like that would take place would be highly unlikely for someone not directly involved with the program. And even someone who is uninterested isnt necessarily so rude as to just walk away from someone who is asking them a question. Are there any students on the board who saw him playing at Yates with the other guys? Or not playing when everyone else was?

That comment to the article did not inspire confidence. I give the comment to the article about as much weight as I give a feather in a space station. "Fellow student athlete" gave him or herself away with the "probably went to Leo's" crack. That's a remark made by someone who has a preconceived conclusion. Whether Josh is taking his fitness seriously will be plain enough for all to see in short order. No need to rely on snarky anonymous comments on the Interwebs.

The worst part about this is that his own student newspaper posted an article with a link to a Youtube video of him that is titled "UCLA's Fatboy Center". Wow.

The difference being our staff and program develop bigs, and Howland's kids always seem to get better after they left.
