For some reason, he reminds me more of Michael Cera. No idea why. Because, while he has turned in a good performance on a few occasions, he's really not all that talented?

Bobby Sura was also forced to leave to for the NBA early due to grade issues.

You're telling me there is no place in the league for a point guard who can't shoot or play man to man defense? MCW isn't a true point. He's a poor man's Bobby Sura and looks like a depraved Tiger Woods clone. That's an insult to Bobby Sura. MCW is a broke Bobby Sura, if that. I think Grevis Vasquez is someone MCW needs to emulate if he plans to have any success in the NBA.

Our players always wait until later than most to announce they are leaving. I'm sure he has already decided to leave, GU just seems to hold off on announcing it for whatever reason. Getting an agent squared away maybe? I don't really know why, Georgetown is a weird place. I wouldn't read too much into it, Nerlens Noel hasn't even declared yet and his season ended in February. Hasn't III said that if someone is a guaranteed top 5 pick he basically doesn't let them stay? I don't seem him or JT jr. advising the Porters to have Otto stay, and I don't seem him going against that advice either. Not true at all. Hollis was announced in about a week. We knew DaJuan was leaving the second his last season was over. Stop trying to give a rhyme or reason to it. If he leaves, he leaves. If he stays, he stays Can you break down for me why we all knew Dajuan was gone after his junior season? I for one thought he might come back.

On the contrary, there a few posters that inside knowledge; not most, but some. Myself not included.

It's literally someone's opinion because I've always been a diehard and I felt similar to you. People create conventional wisdom and repeat it, even if it's not true. For example, people have said a million times that Hollis Thompson left early and graduated, which isn't true (and still isn't true, to my knowledge).

Didn't JTIII or one of the coaches say that Dajuan was planning on leaving before the season and everyone was aware of it/it wasn't a big deal. Didn't he also state after his freshman year something to the effect he wanted to stay 3 years like Jeff? Also didn't he also have a baby pretty soon after that season? All of these are pretty fair reasons to think Dajuan didn't contemplate coming back for his senior season, and there is nothing wrong with him having decided that early.

This is so reminiscent of the self-serving Jeff Green wishful thinking. He is gone. It would be insane to come back. I wouldn't do it, and neither would you.

Turnover is a reality of college sports--it's not whether they leave but when. Even for those who stay all four years, they are seldom major factors all four years. Only Lubick has played alot of minutes for three years on this current team. My greatest hope for Otto is that he has a long and successful career in the NBA and becomes as strong an ambassador for the program as many of those who have gone before.

Is it reminiscent of Roy Hibbert wishful thinking? Or Joakim Noah thinking for Florida fans? I don't think anyone on here has said they expect him to come back. Merely discussing whether there are reasons he or anyone else might come back. You know, because it's a DISCUSSION board. Wouldn't be much fun if we all just stated the same "facts". And how is it "self-serving"? My life is made no different by discussing whether he comes back or not. I doubt Otto is making his decision based on what we say here--can't imagine he's even reading it right now. My point and others still stands. Lots and lots of reasons to go, but just because it's what you or I might do doesn't necessarily mean it's what Otto or anyone else might do. Why do you need re-assurance that he'll do what you'd do?

Normally we at least get some on-campus reporting to help ratchet up the wild speculation. Can't we at least get a good "He's still coming to class," or an "I think he's been driving around in a new car"?

Or another chat board for the matter?

Is it reminiscent of Roy Hibbert wishful thinking? Come on, Hibbert was not a Wooden Award nominee and a consensus top-5 pick after his junior year. The two situations are not remotely the same.

I realize this is obvious, but for all the talk about college, winning championships, maturity, etc., at the end of the day the most important factor for a lot of guys is money. Granted, I realize that staying in college another year (like Hibbert) might improve your chances of getting a better second contract, etc., but I think that's more important to the questionable recruits who might go lower in the first round or those who may not get drafted at all (like Hollis Thompson).
If Otto Porter gets drafted, he's almost certain to get about $2,812,000 his first year, $2,938,700 his second year, and even more in years following, assuming he stays in the league (very likely, in my opinion). Imagine if somebody was offering you a guaranteed $6,000,000. It would be pretty hard to walk away from for another year of college!
As I said, I don't think this is true for people who are questionable first round draft picks or those who might not even get into the NBA, but for somebody like Porter, it would be extremely difficult to turn down all that money, especially considering you never know for sure if it will be there the following year.
