Are there any examples of consensus likely top 5 picks coming back to school, like, ever? If so, did those people improve or even maintain their draft stock? Tim Duncan..

Thank goodness we get to make this decision, and don't have to leave it to Otto and his family!

Where do you keep getting that he's a consensus top 5? I don't really buy that anyone knows, but I have seen various draft projections that have him right at 5, and several that have him below. With having to declare so early and without having any of the camps or team workouts, I don't think anyone knows who the top 5 will be outside of the top two or three. I don't think it matters. Whether he's the 5th pick or the 8th pick, he'll still make a lot of money. So that's not really the point. If he wants to go to the NBA now, he'll go. Just that it's not a given that he'll go as high as you keep insisting. I do find it a little hard to believe that a small forward with no handle is guaranteed top 5 even in a week year. After workouts and camps I expect him to drop a bit because he really hid is flaws well this year. There is no better SF in college basketball....not that hard to understand. And also, his skill set is one that excels in workout setting. As evidenced by the fact that he killed KD and Lebron camps this past summer and also that the majority of work in draft camps comes in the form of shooting, handling the ball, making good decisions, displaying high Bball IQ, and showcasing your coachability.

Duncan was #1 if he had left his junior season and possibly even his soph season. He stayed the top prospect for nearly three years and ended up getting picked #1 after his senior season.

Huh? That’s what BD asked though MCI "Are there any examples of consensus likely top 5 picks coming back to school, like, ever? If so, did those people improve or even maintain their draft stock?” I responded with Tim Duncan, how is that not accurate?

Hibbert was projected as a Top 5 pick in 2007. At which point he became the 17th pick in the next draft. Who now has a max contract.

Blake Griffin came back as a guaranteed top 5 pick and ended up going #1, fwiw. Griffin only came back for his sophomore season. Something alot of players do. (like Monroe and Porter)
