Thanks -- I stand corrected, it's seven times past the first weekend, or 25% of the time since 1985. Some of the perspective on this may have to do with how folks view the Esh era. If you view it as a complete aberration (like the sinking of the Titanic), you'd be inclined to give it less weight when comparing JTIII to what preceded him (and thus be more critical of his track record). Looking at that list, it is amazing that before 2008 it had been 18 years since Georgetown lost to a lower seed in the NCAA tournament. Not really. It's tough to lose to a lower seen when for the most part you are a 7,8,9 seed and have to play the 1 or 2 seed in the secound round....

If you're a 7 or an 8, it is quite easy to lose in the first round.

The 8 vs 9 and 7 vs 10 matchups are pretty much a wash
