McBricks, I was not going to mention it if you hadn't, but while the CBS coverage was clear, those couple of commercials they run over and over might be worst than water-boarding as far as torture is concerned.

As for the speculations that Georgetown is better/worst without Greg W., I think the commentators are missing the point. I see the problem as one of too many of the same type of players. Greg and Otto are very slight variations of each other--very similar. With Greg out, Otto gets a chance to shine brightly and shore up his prospects for the NBA. Don't be surprise to see Greg take over from Otto next year. Man, I would like to see him play this year (even as the words come out of my mouth).

Trawick and he was allegedly involved in the scuffle according to a st. john's fan but they could have just confused him and bowen since they both wear the arm sleeve. That makes sense HSB, Garrett didn't look happy with Jabril in the final minute of the game. I'd hate it if he weren't on G'town but I do love the way Jabril gets under the skin of opponents.. Lenn Robbins @lennrobbins Follow up from St. John's-Gtown..League not expected to hand out any discipline over post-game dustup #stjbb #WEAReGeorgetown Amir Garrett, Jabril Trawick unfinished biz form the last game when AG nailed JT w a ball while going out of bounds #stjbb #WeAREGeorgetown It was a clean play but you can understand Trawick being ticked..And Garrett wasn't thrilled with the Hoyas sweep #stjbb #WeAreGeorgetown

But we were taking it to the hoop Not really. Sporadically at best. We took it to the hoop, played it into the paint, and rebounded more than in recent games. It's only natural that playing in close quarters will result in various fouls, not zero fouls until th end of the game.

I think of it as a similar situation to the issues the Pacers had when they were playing Paul George and Danny Granger at the same time. They really should be playing the same position. With no Granger (out with injury), George is having a breakout season.

#2 leading scorer in the BE D. Harrison's 2013 stats vs. GU:

Congrats to all (players and staff)!!!

Seriously, we must have seen that Reebok commercial 30+ times. I actually didn't mind it at first and then I wanted to kill Reebok.

Harrison is a whiny little baby. If he misses his first 5 shots, he'll continue to shoot and not move on O and not play any D and whine to the officials. He's Scottie Reynolds times 50. If Lavin were a better coach, he'd have nailed him to the bench in the first and not the second to play the French kid.

As for the Whitt talk, I was one of the posters that wondered out loud which guy was the better player. After the games without Greg, Whitt has a lot of work to do just to hold Otto's jock. Not a rip on Greg. Otto has been that good. To the point where I keep wishing that the commentators would stop pointing it out. In my head, I'm all, "SHHHHHH." We're gonna miss that kid like crazy next year.

First and most important, great win by the Hoyas. I hope the team enjoyed it because I took great pleasure in most of the game today. A couple thoughts...
Big Dog, I don't think anyone responded to you. Here's my game on the Greg situation. III's hand was forced but if Greg was eligible would playing time have changed, good question. I believe Greg's offense efficiency was hurting the team more than anyone was willing to admit. His value on defense was the reason to accept his lack of offensive efficiency. However, my belief is that since he was ask to be on the floor so much, and his defense gave great reason for it, it is easy to ignore other things. I am a homer and want to say III was running his best players to win, but I have to admit that the offense is running better and the defense hasn't taken too much, if any, of a hit. So many variables it is hard to say but at least III has played several more players and we are winning. Bottom line, your question infuriates me as a III diehard but is really valid.
On the fouls, just blows my mind when I see games like this with points in the paint one way and foils the other. I have an issue with a handful of fouls on us, cant believe the double foul on Hops, but the lack of calls for us, especially Nate, is frustrating.
Injuries suck, thank god it wasn't us and best of healing for St. Johns.
Markel did so much today even though he was off at times shooting. Never expected him to turn into what he has become.
Nate was great. Whoever I sat next to in Jacksonville and hated on Nate the whole time I hope you have changed your ways. Most likely you hate on Hops now, which has been understandable. Guy is great and glad he suits up in blue and grey.
Hops, hopefully this is your moment because I did not scare anyone in the house today by yelling at you on the TV. I did scare the house when Aaron put back, but I should the replay and got a sideways nod. If Hopkins can keep that level up, and get a few rebounds, things look better for the Hoyas.
Turnovers, part of the offense but come on with the stupid stuff.
Rebounds, don't stop doing what you're doing. Thank you for finally crashing the boards and looking for bodies to butts into instead if the ball.
Just like St. Johns looked good because of their weak Big East run, the Hoyas and fans should recognize we are on our easy part of the schedule. Still, we have seen teams call apart and this team has something. I hope that something is more than anyone expected. Hoya saxa.

I was as happy with this win as any other this season other than Louisville, primarily because it put the lie to my comment from the other day that if Otto and Markel were both off and/or in foul trouble in a game, we might not score 30. Here was a game in which Markel's shooting was awful and Otto took only 8 shots, yet we still won handily, thanks in large part to a career game by Nate and an excellent game by Jabril.

According to the New York papers, Jabril "talked" to Garrett all game while putting up his 12 pts, 5 rebs(2 Off), 4 assists, 3 stls, stat stuffing line! Way to go, Jabril!! ;D Bowen had Bril's back when the Johnnies got chippy in the handshake line.

Great win. Watching on Tv it looked like the crowd was awesome.
This team has done a great job taking care of business and defending its home floor. We have won 6 of our last 7 games and this sets us up perfectly for the stretch run. If we keep up the same level of intensity I see us winning at least 5 of our last 9 regular season game. 21-8 going into BET. Clearly a tournament team.
Im proud of this team. No reason why we cant make a tournamnt run.

Jabril must be one of Big John's favorites on this team. He is right out of the 1980s in terms of attitude and style of play--tough defense, streaky offense and hard nosed. DSR has definitely benefitted from the playing time, though I think he has a long ways to go before he reaches his potential. Bowen is like a jolt of caffeine each time he plays. There is good and bad but the energy level is incredible.
The key to the remainder of the season is the post position. If Hopkins and Moses can at least be serviceable, it frees up Nate to play the 4 and at that position he is a beast. As an undersized center, he is less effective and less able to contribute to the offense.
Hopkins really has weak hands from what I can see--the ball is stripped too easily and he never completes the shot when he is fouled. He loves to dribble, which will eventually be alright if he becomes more adept but for now it is a turnover waiting to happen. Moses is so far away from contributing on offense but you cannot deny his strength. Again, the goal is for them to contribute 25 minutes a game without hurting the team. At that point, even without Whittington, this team can play with most everyone.

Due to family commitments, I couldn't watch the game live yesterday, but was excited to see the replay this morning .. until I remembered this was a CBS event and therefore unavailable on WatchESPN. Is anyone aware of replay options online? I checked CBSSports.com and didn't see anything other than a couple minutes of highlights.

Jabril had plenty to say during the game but I didn't notice if was talking more at Garrett than the other guys. At one point I think it was markel who tried to save it from out of bounds and threw it off an SJU player (but was of course ruled out of bounds himself smh). The SJU guy griped and Jabril went over to gently, but persuasively remind him of the ball to the face thing. I hope SJU gets better the next few years, just so I can watch Jabril work out his grudge against a worthy opponent.

Does anybody else agree with me that a) Whittington's absence forced JTIII to give minutes faster than he wanted to players like DSR and to focus the offense more on Starks and Porter asserting themselves without worrying about how many passes we made before doing so, and b) the fact that it required a player suspension for III to find out that doing this could be successful, is a mild indictment of III's historical reluctance to trust young players. On the contrary. I believe the post-Greg play demonstrates that III is not the stubborn coach some have made him out to be but one who adjusts to a situation presented to him. This may have been his best coaching stretch in a very long time. Just look at the players on the court and ask youself: man for man, is this a tournament team? I think the answer is no but, as a team, they are a tournament team, thanks to some great coaching and players responding.
